A question that I am asked often but can hardly ever give a respectable answer to.
"Why do you bodybuild/go to the gym/etc.?"
Personally I have many reasons.
It gives you an unmatched sense of confidence; proof of this is after training one of my friends for a few months (he put on muscle QUICK) I saw him go from slightly timid to some kind of god-like, popular guy that radiated confidence. Not to mention he looked 10x better.
Watching your body change is a very addictive experience and improving on your physique and appearence makes all the work worth while, especially when you get recognition from others.
I don't feel the endorphins have anything to do with it. I get more addicted to the pain and strain of lifting a weight than the feeling afterwards (am I wierd?).
FOCUS: Why do you body build/keep fit?

Why do I go to the gym/BB/stay fit: For myself, multiple reasons: 1- I truly enjoy it!!! I love being one of the few women at my gym who can out lift some of the guys!!!! ;D 2- I have two children-20 mths apart-and it is a HUGE STRESS RELIEVER FOR ME!!!!! I have posted this other places here but I will say it again....Great mommy time!!!! I think women would make better mommies and wives if they take care of themselves-FIRST!!! 3- I love the way I look, as far as, I am a mom and most people cannot believe I have a 2 1/2 yr old and a 4 yr old! LOVE IT!!!! 4- I like being strong!!!! I can hold my own!!!!!

Here is why I do it:
1. Feel better emotionally- by that I mean much for self confident. 2. To look good (we all like to look as good as we can) 3. Personal challenge to see what I can do/change with the body gave me. 4. What else can I say... I'm just passionate about it- I think it's the coolest sport in the universe. 5. Comeraderie- I don't seem to have alot in common with alot of people- but put me into a conversaton with another lifter and I can's shut up (Gerry should know this- haha)

It makes me feel better about myself and who I am. I also agree with everything Karrie said. I just turned 40 and it amazes me the number of younger women, not only mom's who are out of shape and way too fat. I had never weight trained before, did mostly exercise classes, but after my accident which resulted in a triple cervical fusion, my doctors told me I would be lucky to walk again let alone exercise. I was determined to prove them wrong and was walking within 10 months. Have tried to start running again but the impact is to much. Figured walking was all I could do, but then I meet Troy and he started me with some light weights and from that moment I was hooked. At first my doctors and family were against it, but now that they see what a difference it has made, they are behind me 100%. Not everyone has to do it to the extreme that we do, but being healthy offers a better quality of life

self confidence- weight training and adding shape to my body has given my SO much self esteem and awareness. I would never go back to being a 'skinny chick'. Injury rehabilitation-bb keeps my joints strong and as I get older it also maintains my bone density as a preventive against osteoporosis. Pushing my physical and emotional boundaries-I have never been a 'naturally talented' athlete,I have had to work VERY hard to get where I've got and pushed myself really hard-I am vERY stubborn!!! Helps me manage my anxiety disorder-by controlling the adrenal hormones better and releasing the endorphins to soothe me. Keeps me SANE #smileygrouplaugh5js#

Love of the sport and how it makes me feel both inside and out. Great on stress, the self confidence/esteem and the rush i get from the weights itself. One of the biggest things is the challenge. The challenge to go harder and heavier than before.

I love working out gets my endorphons going , keeps me from getting too fat and being lazy. It energizes me i'm a low energy person and need something to excite me to get me pumped. I am a depressive person and this whole thing helps my mind chemically so I dont have to be on drugs. Its an outlet for frustration, i've cried in the gym of course I dont let anyone see me but its a place of solidtude for me, like the beach. Socializing I have made several good freinds in the gym. I like to show off I can outlift most 20-30 year olds in my gym.... #smileyhysterical1zs# (Cuz I can't sing or dance, LOL, Vin.) LMBO niether can I goodone Vin.
