hey Mark, I just re-read the judging breakdown for the PDI and it seems like there are alot more components to consider. do you think the actual judging process will take any longer with this new system and what benefits do you see from breaking up the criteria further from symmetry, compulsories and routine?

I'll be at the NOC and will let you all know how it went. Have a couple friends competing.
Look forward to Mark's input as a judge. Many times placings are determined in the prejudge, so placing some emphasis on the routine execution should be good.

Two weeks from tomorrow is the qualifying show where the top finishers in each weight class can earn PDI pro status. That would qualify them for the Night of Champions the next night, along with those already with PDI pro status.
So basically it is pro qualifier on the 15th, NOC prejudge on the afternoon of the 16th and NOC finals on the evening of the 16th.

I'm really interested to see how this first pro show pans out-alot of people have bagged them, but considering they have a few 'names' on their books,I think it will turn out pretty well Aussie,Aussie,Aussie!!!

My personal opinion is that more time needs to be taken when judging. Not just Pro shows but amateur as well. How often have you noticed how quickly judging goes. If there are two competitors and its not close, well sure. If its a large class with 40-50 guys or gals it can be a rushed situation. I don't like to feel rushed when I know someone has busted their arse in prep.
If the PDI format does take longer, it will be to the advantage of the athlete.
I don't think the components (portions) are very different from any IFBB/NPC shows with the exception of the entertainment portion of the scoring. Additionally, way the physique is looked at in certain respects... V taper, no distended stomachs are all being considered negative.
Does this answer your questions Beckie? If not, feel free to follow up.
Hey Gerry......Make sure you come up and say hello!

It all sounds good Mark-I guess the bigger the show the more time you'll need but since its only mens physique, its probably not that much of an issue. I would love to see a show like this-would be so refreshing to see more genuine comparisons and more aesthetics taken into consideration... Guess I'll just have to save my hard earned $$ and come over... but in the meantime I hope BB.com are doing a webcast-would love to see the goings-on even if I have to stay up late see it!
