Those of you that read the OCB boards will know about this but for those that don't- WNBF pro Dave Goodin has been suspended for 3 years for breach of contract over an interview he did with Ironman Magazine-apparently he did not ask for Steve Downs permission to do it and has paid the price. Dave has now turned his attention to preparing for an upcoming IFPA show which will see some of the best pro's in that organisation go head to head. My question is-disregarding the contract issue,if the article promoted WNBF in a positive light then what is the problem with natural bodybuilding getting some 'mainstream' media attention? Surely this is to the benefit of the sport as a whole if fully natural athletes can get reader space alongside the regular pros?? This is why I like OCB because it allows competitors to get maximal exposure through whatever means, whether that be magazines, other sites or sponsorship. I only wish we had it down here...maybe I need to move up there ??

This will come back to haunt WNBF. they will lose a lot from this.
The interview and photos were great and a big boost for natural BB and the orgs. Hope that Dave can get some ops from this and make some money. He is a tremendous athlete and he deserved the publicity.

What they did is BS, plain and simple. I heard the reason they didn't like Dave doing the interview, is because he did it in a magazine that featured non-natural athletes. It's still crap, and a 3 years suspension is more than harsh!

Cool,good for him Backie!!
You would think that Steve Downs and the WNBF would be excited that one of their stars got a spread in a major mag like IronMan!!
Just because it`s not all natural,Goodins article was pushing natural bodybuilding.............big mistake on their part.
This can be a great thing for Dave however which is evidenced by the second article coming out in IM.........just the tip of the iceberg for him now that he is "free' !!

Unbelievable. Bad for the WNBF. They could have taken the opposite tact and gained more exposure.
Hope Dave benefits from this.

"Texas Shredder" Dave Goodin has thrown his hat in the mix. He'll be among the natural pros taking the stage at the October 7th IFPA Gaspari Nutrition Pro Classic in Cape Cod, MA. His presence is sure to raise the level of competitiveness even more, along with appearances by 2x IFPA pro champion Philip Ricardo, Jr., Multiple-time Team Universe champion Earl Snyder, an even bigger than last year Dave Lovelace, veteran Charlie Moss, and the sultan of symmetry Wil Usher, Jr.
Several other notables are making plans to join what's shaping to be an all-star lineup at the IFPA pro event. And more will be coming forward in the weeks leading up to the contest.
THe IFPA pro event is offering pro men's bodybuilding and pro figure categories. Competitors who have become eligible to compete as pro with any federation are eligible for the contests.

Dave deserves all the good stuff he can get! A class act on and off stage. Got an e mail from him, and he will be in future Ironman issues as well. Way to go, Dave!!

Incomprehensible! Some exposure for natural bodybuilding wouldnt have hurt! Anyway… it's not the first time and for sure not the last time something like that will happen in our sport! Hers is a pic of Dave Goodin, a great athlete:

I'd like to add, so what if your in a magazine with guys who take gear. Like many said here, the article was talking about our great sport of BODYBUILDING and since he's natural better and good exposure. Dumb suspension.

Its the same thing over and over . Organizations trying to control the athletes . Bodybuilders should take control of the sport back. Too many bodybuilders are told what when and WHAT THEY CAN AND CANNOT DO buy some one else who either owns a mag, runs a federation, or controls an empire. Without the top guys they are nothing ,they should remember that.

Known Dave for several years and have seen him compete, which is a great experience! He is not known as Shredder for nothing! I call him Mr Ab/Thigh. Just an amazing pose for him.
All Downs did was shoot himself in the foot. Many of the WNBF athletes are rethinking their competitive futures and all the support is rightfully with Dave.
