Hey guys sorry I was gone for a while but as a few of you know I was really messed up mentally from 2005 coming in 2nd and 3rd in all 5 shows that I did. I took this whole year off from competing and dieting UNTIL last week. In 2007 I plan on trying again to win a show and get to the Nationals by the end of the year and if I don't make it I will not get so disappointed like the past years and then just enjoy working out instead of being tooo competitive as some people say i am. lol I thought to just share my thoughts and would like to here how others on here think about their goals.

Glad to hear it Carl, and glad to have you back on the board too !! #arockon6ha#
I`ll discuss my goals from last year, this year, and next year in this thread, but to summarize, they are simply to place as well as possible, and know in my heart that I gave it my best shot.........100 % effort...........100 % of the time!!
Also,I get pissed at times about my placings, as we all do,but my mindset is one that I will never quit until I reach my goals............... or at least keep giving it all I`ve got.
It`s a journey.......learn from it,and enjoy it!!
Either way, win, lose,or draw,we are never losers as long as we do all we can do to improve.
The judges all want something different, that`s what makes a subjective sport such as bodybuilding such a bit*h at times.
Keep pumpin` brother!!

hey Carl, good to see you back here amongst us! You have been missed!
Understand about that. judging seems to be very subjective. At last weeks Total Package show the judges were shuffled about with Thomas Brown ending up the head judge. He definitly wants to see super conditioned people on stage and those who were not knew it right away.
ALl you can do is your best and hope thats what the judge wants to see.
good to see ya back

Stay positive Carl, you only compete against yourself in this game. I love to win too but have often fell short of my goals.....not for lack of trying though.....damn judges!! LOL If you surpass your former top condition onstage,it is a victory no doubt about it. To echo what Brock said, your input was missed and great to have you back!!

I have overly high expectations too and I know how easy it is to get caught up in that thinking. what I have decided to do from now on is to focus on improvements from show to show and just present the best package I can present without worrying about the outcome. Welcome back

Hey Carl, drop me a line sometime and we'll talk about up coming shows. I think everyone needs a cheering section and being an old horse show veteran, i can field whistle and stop with the best of them.

Hey Carl! What else can i add to what everyone said in this thread excepted, just remember that you must do it (the training, diet, contest prep, competition, etc) because you like it, you just LOVE the bodybuilding lifestyle, it's in you… winning is a bonus you CANT control… but improving everytime is someting you CAN.
Welcome back Carl!

You guys are totally correct it is a great lifestyle and it is more important than placing first in a show. I knew I could count on my friends here on WOTW, and it feels good to be back in the swings of things. THANKS gang!!! Time to go hit the weights. #bbenchpress4zy#

Carl, great to see you back. Wise taking time off and going for it in 2007. if you do your best and are at your best on stage, then that is a victory in itself. The rest is just opinion. You can only control yourself, and you are the only real competition!
Just keep at it and give a holler if you need advice or support.
