I was working out last night and a few members who were special came in with their trainers and they were doing deadlifts. What inspired me was not that they were just working out but deadlifting WITH GREAT FORM! The best was all the other gym members kept looking at them and I bet it was because they were like errr WHAT exercise is that. I came up to a few and told them great job and they are doing great. The helpers smiled at me and I was on my way. I felt great and had a big smile on my face. Made feel good that ANYONE can lift if they want to. I hope those guys rock the special olympics!

That is awesome! WOW! You know what, I just had an IEP meeting with a MHF student (Multi Handicapped Functioning). He has adapted PE, but I dont' have him. I have him for health. We talked about the special olympics and I really miss volunteering for that. I used to do swimming, swim meats, bowling, bowling tournaments, etc... for special olympics. I'd really like to get back into that!
That'sthe great thing about weight trianing - ANYONE CAN DO IT!
The first bodybuilding show I ever watched a gentleman came out RIPPED to shreds. It was a state level NPC show (national qualifying Ohio State Championships). Jimmy Canyon among others have won this show. This guy came out looking full big and ripped. A middle weight I think. He had some type of handicap and a nervous system disease (MS, CP, can't remember). But he could barely walk. They helped him to the center of the stage where he stood and posed to slow, classical, inspirational type music. His routine was awesome. HE GOT A STANDING OVATION from the crowd. The final straw in my motivation to compete!

I think it is great!! And hats of to you for acknowledging them. My son once had a friend who's mother would not allow him to come play in our apartment building as there were several special needs people living there - she didn't want her son to get a disease - how narrow mind and ignorant!!!
With not being able to wo due to my back right now I have been going to the Y and using the pool to get some cardio in. There is a girl who can barely walk but once she slides into the water ..... watch out!!!! I love talking with her after wards in the sauna - she is an amazing person.

It is awesome to see people in general excel at weightlifting no matter what their disability is-everyone has something they are good at after all
