In exactly 12 hours time our wee dog will be put to sleep. Over the past 13 days she has deteriorated so badly that there was no other alternative-I have barely been able to function over this period as I have been nursing her and have not dealt with this at all well. I know it is the right thing to do but it is still SO hard!

I am so sorry. I know a lot of people who don't have pets just don't understand how those little creatures work their way into our hearts.

Beckie, I am so sorry to hear this. I have an Airdale Terrier just like Jay Cutler. He's one year old but already I could not imagine what I would feel if something would happen to him. Very sorry indeed. You did the right thing even though it doesn't seem right. Your pet will not suffer and will find peace. Lots of warm hugs.

thank you everyone-it makes me feel so much better that all my friends(online and here in NZ) have been so supportive. We are having her cremated and will bury her ashes when we move house next year xxx

Becky,
I understand. We had to put our Siamese cat of 17 years and Irish Setter of 14 years put to sleep.
They are the ONLY ones who love us unconditionally. Be strong. She will be waiting for you someday, wagging her tail to greet you.
Our warmest prayers to you.
Peace always.

I recently lossed a pet too. My pit bull (Blossom) got loose from my back yard and was struck by a truck. My 9 year son still falls into little bouts of depression from time to time. He loved her soooo much. All the dog really did was sleep, but she was still a great dog. I called her the Big Fat Dumb Dog or bfdd for short.
We do miss her.
Pets bring a special something to us all, and those who don't have them sometimes do not understand how much we love them.
Stay strong Becky Look at the little quotes on the bottom of my post. The bring me strength too.
