My wife and I assited at regisration and scoring at a local power lifting meet. This was our first experience at a power lifting meet, and it was a lot of fun.
We were truly impressed by some of these lifters. This was considered a national meet for them, and many American records were broken. We were very impressed by the following:
70 year old lady setting an American record for benching 90 lbs.
90 lb. female teen deadlifting 130 lbs.
The Ashland College Powerlifting Team. These young athletes were motivated, organized, and set a few new records. Their coaches were outstanding. Motivating their athletes, checking their stats, equipment, etc. VERY professional group!
Mens Open Lifting Teen: Bench Press 525 lbs.
Mens Open lifting adult: Bench 625 lbs. / and squat 675 lbs.
Very well done. Accolades to Ed King, Owner of Kings Gym for the great meet!
It was a different experience for us as bodybuilders. No smell of PRO Tan! People eating Pizza at the weigh-in's! Fast moving show! It was a great experience, and we made a lot of new friends. IF you've never experienced this side of our sport, check it out some time. They don't train like we do, but they're not half bad!
The one "so-so" comment I'll make, was an observation. When I walk down the beach in a Speedo....I'd much rather have the body of a bodybuilder! The size of some of these guys was a little scary!

I know what you mean Frank- I assisted at a powerlifting comp a couple of years ago and some of those guys looked plain fat! However I was very impressed with their lifting skill, much better squatting and deads than the average bb'er

We love it there!
