Ok Everybody!!! After I celebrate my 49th B-day on Saturday........ Monday morning I'm going to have my broken Wisdom tooth pulled! I'm nervous as hell for a few reasons:
1) I hate dentists! 2) I've NEVER had a tooth pulled! 3) I'm might have to miss a wrokout!!! 4) Did I mention that I HATE DENTISTS!?!
Words of Wisdom? Anybody?

Don't sweat it. although i've never had anything pulled before (knock on wood), i dont see a problem with a stranger putting sharp utensils and hooks into my mouth to extract some old enamel. the only part that will hurt is the part where they rip the tooth from your flesh. other than that, its no big deal. #baaa5qu#

Thanks Karrie. My common sense says you are absolutely right. But me fear of dentists still won't let it go. My wife used to be a certified dental tech (her test scores are still the highest recorded in Ohio since 1976!!), and she has tried to reassure me just the same. I'll look at it as another tough work out...just go in and "Git er' Done"!! Thanks !!!

Frank, i'm a true coward when it comes to see the dentist… so i was extremely nervous at the idea of having my 4 wisdom tooth pulled! And you know what? It wasnt the best moment of my life, but it was far from being the worst… in fact, the apprehension was a lot worst than the event itself… as it is very often in life i believe!

Just keep in mind that it will be nothing compared to what Mo is going to make me do next week

Does your dentist know how you feel? If you have a good dentist they will know how to make it easier for you. My friend is absolutely terrified and needs to have laughing gas just to get her teeth cleaned! Because of my health issues, my dentist goes out of his way to make sure I am comfortable and they go as easy as they can while still getting the job done. If you go in playing the big strong tough guy they're gonna treat you like one. You would be amazed what a bit of communication can do With your wife's knowledge, the after part should be a breeze and instead of worrying about missing a work out, redo your wo schedule now to give you a few days to recover. If you go in and lift you could tear your stitches and (1) you will have to GO BACK to the dentist and (2) you may miss even more work outs. GOOD LUCK

Frank, I've had two teeth pulled due to abscesses. No fun, but you will survive it. I don't like dentists either.
Today's dental procedures are better. It is incovenient and painful (at worst) and some discomfort (at best). After the anesthetic wears off, the tequila may come in handy!
Good luck! As Rodney Dangerfiled once said, "We'll be pulling for you". ;D

Thanks guys! I like ALL the responses I think I'll give them a call and voice a few concerns. Perhaps they'll give the S&M people the day off.....but perhaps..... ;D

my fear is not the procedure itself but the needle that goes in my gum #smileylame7qi# Once the anaesthetic kicks in you won't feel a thing! Good Luck Frank )

I survived!!!!
Of course it was more drama then I had expected !!
The Dentsit was almost 1 hour behind with patients...so that dragged my anxiety out even more.
BUT... the crown on the molar was no problem and the extraction of the wisdom tooth was ABSOLUTELY PAINLESS!!!
I came home. Ate. went grocery shopping...and went to Wendy's Restraunt to celebrate with a burger, fries and a chilii!!!!
The novacaine has totally worn off, and besides a little soreness of the jaw....no pain!!!
He did give me some Darvacet just in case, but I don't think I'll need them (keep for future references!)
So...THANK YOU for all of your kind words of supprt, and helping me through it! I'll hit the gym first thing in the morning for some lite cardio!!!
Never say never!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Back in da' game!!!!!
