Just a quick update. Things are getting better, but slowly. The face is still a problem. I talk funny especially when i lose my tempar, and then my wife can not take me seriously! It is kinda funny! My eye just needs attention, so that it doesn't dry out. The funny thing is that one eye is near sighted and one eye is farsighted. Some my glasses have a differant prescription for each eye, well the right affected eye is having trouble focusing. So not even the glasses are helping. It makes reading a little difficult. All in all my spirits are coming up along with my energy levels. I am doing more around the house, like some Ironing and laundry, as well as cookie dinner. If I over do it a little I just lay down and relax. I am hoping to return to work later this week. i think by Thursday I should be ready! WONDERFUL NEWS!!!!! #smileycheeleader9un# I am sooo glad you are feeling better!!!! Just take it easy and when you feel tired rest...keep doing that and you are going to recovery beautifully!!!!!

Thanks guys. See the doc tomorrow. I stepped out today to watch my son. He bowls on the high school bowling team. My Dad was there and we talked a long time. This ended up hurting the face. But I am ok now.

First let me say thanks to you guys for your advice and support. I truely cannot believe the out pouring of well wishing, concern, advice, and all around show of caring. It really has helped keep my sanity.
I say the doctor today and most of the physical symptoms are gone. The swelling of the throat, aches and pains, weezing, everything is much better. Only fighting the Bell's Palsy and faitgue now. I am keeping myself hydrated and making sure to rest. She told me my return to work is up to me. I also spoke with work and they are ok knowing that I am not 100%, but will be returning to work and taking it one day at a time. I was also concerned about an upcoming buisness trip to Denver. I would be leaving on the 15th. I spoke with my boss and he said I should plan to go but could cancel as late as the day of the flight. How cool is that!!!
So all is good. I think I will start some light activity, like some very mild mild bike riding (stationary) and plan on hitting the weights after the buisness trip.
You guys have been great for me. I am not out of the woods yet but, but you folks have guided me in the right direction!!!!

That is nice no pressure about that business trip...obviously he wants you to go but if you are unable to you can cancel the trip!!!!! Just rest when needed...keep listening to your body!!!!! Keep us updated!!!!!! ;D

Sure Steve will post here when he can. Spoke with him Sunday and he was supposed to start back to work yesterday. He said he has a great boss, luckily, who understood about his need for breaks, etc. during the day.
He is feeling considerably better but still has to be careful. The Bell's Palsy is still present. He is blessed with a terrific family and hopefully will fully recover soon for himself and for them.

Thanks for the kind words Gerry.
Yes I am back to work. My second day back. I might have overdone it yesterday. I worked, and then went bowling with my 9 year old. He is in a league, and he needed to practice and if I bowl with him then I can be out there and give him pointers. Then I had to take him to swim lessons. So I did a lot of running around after work. So today I felt about 75%, but I am feeling much better now. I might even attempt a little lifting and bike riding, nothing fancy or hard, but I feel its time to get back into it. So i might just do a very light chest workout, and if after the first couple of sets I feel bad I will stop.
Thanks guys

I took your advice hoopie. The way things have been going I've decided to hold off on the gym stuff. I might try something this weekend but basically I need to get use to working and then I maybe going to Denver next week. So maybe the week of the 25th I'll start back.

Steve - How long did it take to get back to "normal" after the mono was no longer 'active'? I just foud out Monday that I HAD mono during my contest prep and that explained a lot about how I was feeling, etc.
I am still having issue with energy and will go for a few hours just fine and then BOOM!! I am on the ground. I can't even stand or walk at times. The doc said to keep active as the mono is no longer active, I just need to work it out. So he has me working out and riding bike, cardio, etc to keep things moving.
Also did you have any liver tests done while having mono? Mine are very high and the dr feels this is due to the bb supps during the contest prep, the mono and taking a lot of tylenol for the extreme headaches I am getting.
I can totally feel the pain you were going through but I did not have any of the extra stuff you went through. Just mostly tired.
Thanks - Jeremy

Jeremy I took me awhile to get back into the mode of training. I dabbled for awhile. not training hard but just lifting light and getting back into the groove. For some strange reason my chest strength isn't back to normal. I use to be able to bench 315 for 5, but I have been struggling with it for 3. I think the turning point for me was mid March. I was got Mono in December so thats 4 months. Now I am back to normal (almost). I'm squating 495 for reps and deadlifting for 5 again! Of course training with someone who is getting ready to compete helps too. My liver enzymes have always been somewhat high. Which is primarily due to the ibuprofene I use to treat my migraines. The headaches you get from mono has more to do with dehydration. This causes the blood pressure to go through the roof! My blood pressure at one point was 185/115, when the doc admitted me into the hospital.
I'll tell you what really helped. I started taking 1000mg of vitamin C, extra B-complex and a multi vitamin every day. This really helped me get back to normal.

One other thing. If your getting headaches, try just drinking water. If related to dehydration that will help a great deal.

Thanks a lot.
I don't think the headaches are related. I take in at least a gallon and a half per day but usually more. The dr said it was a muscular/tension headache and could feel the knots and tightness in the neck muscles. I have had issues with those previously as well. I also take about 4grams of vit C plus whatever is in the two diff. multi vits I take so that may be helping.
My strength is still OK for a very, very brief period of time but I usually have no muscular endurance. Tonight was good night - let's hope I don't pay too dearly for it. Idid a semi-normal back workout, though a little lighter than usuall. Rode my bike to the gym, about a half mile. Then to the tanning bed place about 2 miles, then to the other gym about another mile and a half. Then home about 3.5 miles. The kicker is I was so drained at work I fell alseep twice!
It just seems to come and go and when the tiredness hits,,, it hits hard!
Thanks again for the feedback.

Sorry to hear that, Jeremy. But glad that it sounds like it is in remission. Can only take it a day at a time, as Steve did. Wish you the best for full ecovery.
