Carl. Can you post a sample diet? If not you can PM me.. Tx No prob man. My day pretty much goes like this. 05:00-- oatmeal, casein protein (such as muscle milk) 06:00-- 2 fat burner 08:30-- can tuna, 2 hard boild egg whites 11:30-- 10oz. chicken breast, half a can of green beans *Flaxseed oil 14:30-- protein bar with 20-30 grams of protein low carb such as Pure Protein. I only get a 10 minute break at work so a bar is really good supplement for me. 17:00-- Pre Work Out-- Multi Vitamin, protein drink with 20-25 grams of carbs and protein. * Work out and cardio for 25-30 minutes at a medium to hi level preferably on an elliptical machine which is really good on my knees. 19:30-- 10 oz. Steak, cup of broccoli and a glass of juice. ( I dont worry about how lean the steak is at this time, but a month b4 a show it is as lean as I can find) *Flaxseed oil 21:30-- Protein drink (muscle milk) 21:40-- BED

Amen! How far out do you start your prep? Actually I started dieting 3 months ago. Now the show is about 3 months away so a total of 6 months. Then I will stay lean all summer because there is a show in Sept. and Oct. that I plan on doing. I like the idea of a long prep too. Yet every time I discuss it with most bodybuilders they jump down my throat. "NOBODY should ever need more than 16 weeks! And 12 is better!!" As if 16 is some magical number. Personally, where I am off-season, 16 would just not be enough to lose fat and hold my muscle mass. I have spoken many times with Derik Farnsworth, and he does 6 months prep. Always comes in fantastic shape.

A persons prep should be just as long as they need it to be. In other words,if a guy is 20% BF,and another guy is 10% BF,then obviously the 20% guy will need more time. I usually get in shape by dieting 16-20 weeks personally, but I don`t get too fat in the off-season. I do a lot of multiple contests for months at a time every year,so I eat a day or two after each show and jump back on the diet........the only time I would not do this is i the show was the following weekend. In essence,I diet for a looooong time!! No set prep time is carved in ston......it`s an individual thing you must find out for yourself through experience.

Agreed! I believe the longer you take to prepare for a show the better shape you'll ultimately get in. Tim's right, it all depends on how fat you are when you start to diet! #bhomersimp5yy#

I hear the same thing people always use the 16 week plan. I never understood it because the saying getting "dialed in" on show day is just too risky if you ask me. I feel that getting cut and maintaining it is much more easier mentally for me.
I actually dieted for 26 months straight and placed top 3 in all shows those 2 years. I think if I had a "bulk" period in there I would not have done so well. I am a firm beleiver that conditioning wins!

VERY TIGHT!!!!! Damn good work. You have energy on this? Actually I keep moving at work and stay focused at wanting to win my next show that I really don't give it a thought to be tired. At 150 pounds and the low carb diet I am still able to bench 225 for reps and have a full intense workout and give it the full cardio session without stopping or cutting my cardio short a minute. I guess like Hoss "Kyle" always tells me that I am just that crazzy or my will keeps me going one or the other.

What do you use as a carb source in the preworkout shake? Funny you asked this question, I just started a new regimen a protain drink with low carbs and a Quaker Breakfast bar 20 minutes b4 a workout. I started it about a week ago. I use to never eat anything prior to working out but I am going to try this out for a few more weeks and see what happens. I am hoping it will help with my vascularity since I cut my ravioli out. Thanks Big Mike Encouraging words from others here help me get motivated even more to give it all I can and show what I got on stage. Thanx!

Cool. I am thinking of trying Waxy Maize Pre workout Is that a creatine ester drink? I'm not familiar with it. I got an Ebay gift card for Christmas and I bid on a Cytosport Fast Twitch pre work out drink and won it. It should be here this week. I normally dont use any pre workout drinks but I thought it could be a good try. Product Info Power workout drink mix. Endo-thermogenic breakthrough. Fuel Fast Twitch (Type II) Fibers: Explosive strength performance Amplify Nitric Oxide: Total body pumps Lower Cortisol: Protect lean muscle Endo-Thermogenic Effect: Max fat burning after workouts.
