I am fortunate to have been coached by an old-school bb'er who really values posing style. He drilled me backwards, forwards, up and down on the mandatories, and had me do my routine blindfolded while he kicked obstacels in my way (true!).
He also had me watch many MANY old shows from the 80's and 90's.
I have to go with Lee Labrada as best poser. Everything was always so perfect with him. Stage presence, transitions, choreography. And he never danced like a stripper. Not even once!
Who's your favourite?

Think this was discussed before, but have had many new members since then.
Hear you, Rich. As a posing coach myself, can't stress how important proper technique is. Can mean a higher place or two!
To me, not putting in the time to practice and perfect your posing after spending so much time and money to train and diet (not to mention other competition expenses like tanning, posing suits, travel, hotel, etc.) is ludicrous!
It isalways so hard to name one best poser of all since there are different styles and strengths out there. Can't argue with Labrada as he was very artistic and forceful as well.
Ed Corney was among the best of the earlier competitors. Even Arnold pointed out Corney as a great poser. And Frank Zane, who did some great staue like poses and paid attention to all the details. And John DeFendis, who was also a master at showing himself to best advantage.
Among more current competitors, Rusty Jeffers is exceptional. And Melvin Anthony, Troy Alves and Darrem Charles are very fluid and skilled. And not just because he is a good friend, but masters competitor Lance Johnson has great presentation instincts and entertains as well as competes.
And how about women?? Diana Dennis and Cory Everson were among the greats of their day. And always love to watch Lenda Murray and Betty Pariso.
The mark of a top poser is that you don't want to see the routine end. Unlike this long post!! ;D

Oops - sorry for the BADH post (beating a dead horse). Sucks being a newbie. Anyway .... You're right about Lenda. I also like Yaz Boyum's routines. As for current - I admit I like Badells from the 2004 O. Thought he paid a nice tribute to all previous Mr O's, and made fun of Ronnie at the same time!

I have a few..... Lee Labrada......my hubby really got me turned on to him. I loved his symmetry. Very small waist and he was short. Love the short guys!!! Women, Corey Everson as well and I liked Mia Finnegan too!!!

No OOPS or sorry necessary, Rich. It is usually good to revisit some of these topics to get some fresh insights.
Agree about Badell. One funny routine was a guest pose by Betty Pariso which included a parody of Kelly Ryan (which obviously she no longer does). She runs across stage as if she were going to tumble and then off stage and then crash sounds are heard!

There are so many, it's hard to choose.
I like Corney from the old days.
There are so many on the new stage it's hard to say.
Oh, side note for Karrie............

Corney...enough said. He was amazing as well as Labrada. I'm glad someone brought up jeffers because of the current athletes today I think he's one of the best along with Darrem and Melvin.
I was also a fan of Leverone's posing during his prime

YIKES!!! Wonder what made him think to throw in a few actual bodybuilding poses? Could have been the fact that it was a bodybuilding show. Good thing he didn't hold them for more than a 1/2 second. Someone may have noticed he can't pose.

Someone may have noticed he can't pose. Haha, yeah I think it's to distract people from actual posing so they get caught up in his dance moves. He actually is a pretty good dancer, but being a good poser is a totally different ballgame.

Agree, Beckie!!
Also have to nominate Randy Leppala. Always a pleasure to see him on stage. He ended his competitive career with class wins in over 40 and over 50 divisions of 06 Masters Nationals!
