I've always been curious as to the blue marks on the side, near his intercostal/oblique area. The only thing I can guess is the insulin shots he takes, if I remember correctly, insulin is supposed to be shot near that area? Anyway, guy had potential then seemed to chase the size game-like so many do- and ended up destroying his body like the tsunami going through a sandbox.....

I think its not so much the drugs as much as his body holding on too almost 400lbs for such a long time, ie looks like his frame(ribcage) was compenasating for the excess mass

Wow! What a change. I'm curious too to know the time frame.
I'm sorry but that just doesn't look good nor healthy. He looks like he's aged tremendously.

To me it appears if he took some time from everything and tried "rushing" things to get back to where he was. It doesn't appear to be long term abuse, by my guess. You ever see a guy who retired then makes a comback it looks radically different for the worse? (ala Nasser). Just a guess since I know nothing about what these guys do or take.

Actually, I empathsize with the guy. Years ago he had the same injury I have, a vertical tear in the tendons joining the two halves of the rectus abdominus. The scarring may be from the surgery to correct it. When you have this the abs recede to the sides and thicken. No one knows what causes this, but it takes surgery and a long recuperation. I'm looking at having it done this year. As for his face, well some age faster than others B

He actually looks like he is decaying in that third picture. Is he in a state of decomposition? That sh*t is gross man. I remember getting flamed on mayhem about Kovacs when Chad was posting his pre-contest pics. I swear, it was almost like the second coming of Jesus and people acted like he was going to win the show. The guy has never placed in any pro show, and that was when he looked better. I took one look at the shots and called it then, that he will come in dead last. I didn't even think he should have been invited to the Arnold at all. I also wondered why the pictures being posted were always from an angle and never a full body shot. It was always an arm, his mid-back or a leg or something. Well, now we know why.

It is really a shame how bad he has gotten. I competed against Kovacs in the Mr. Pittsburgh back in the early 90's. He looked really good and appeared to have tons of potential.

Sad to see this. Agree with jimbo that he should never have competed in the Arnold. He did a NOC year before and should never have stepped on stage either.
Met him once briefly and saw a vid he did for MuscleTech and seemed like a nice guy with much potential (as EBA) said. Really feel sorry for him.

The only thing I can guess is the insulin shots he takes, if I remember correctly, insulin is supposed to be shot near that area?... Yeah, that is very strange. I thinks it's something else. Insulin can be taken anywhere sub-Q the body. But most do prefer the abdomen (anywhere across the "gut"). Obliques are not easy to pinch... it's typically taken spread over the belly. It doesn't leave blue marks either. However, a person may have some problem, unique to them, that might cause that. I still doubt it would be on obliques though. His body sure has changed. It's so strange... looks like he did nothing but squats and weighted side bends! What I get a kick out of is when people say it's 'cause he was a ginnea pig for Muscle Tech... something tells me protein powders and Cell-Tech were not responsible. T

I just thought the insulin being shot in the oblique area, would either cause bruising, or that he was doing so much of it that he was getting the bruises from constant injection. Maybe he did so much insulin that he's now diabetic, and that's the start of him getting all the complications from diabetes and he's about to have his obliques amputated? :Happy Spinner: :Moon: His body does look well-worn! I'm not so sure he looks lie he even did squats, compared to his upper body. But weighted side bends and chin-ups I'd agree with. The guinea pig for MT products? Well, I would think that he was to some degree. I remember an article (it was in a magazine so it HAD to be TRUE!) that he stated "MuscleTech wanted me to get as big as possible, then lean down and become Mr. Olympia 2000." I would at least venture to guess becoming lard ass and being the biggest man "in the world" would be true. But the Mr. O 2000? That's delusions of granger, or however you say that!
