Some things you just remember. Here are a few of mine.
Where were you when ....
JFK was shot? (ok, this one's only for Tim. Only half my DNA even existed at that point)
The Challenger exploded? I was in the school caf, waiting to order fries and gravy.
Reagan was shot? I was at home watching a Gilligan's Island rerun (the one where they almost got rescued), and it was interrupted.
John Lennon was shot? I was in the car on the way home from school.
Pope JPII shot? Oddly enough, also Gilligan's Island (the one where they almost got rescued)
9/11? I was buying cigars to bring to the office on my first day back after my daughter was born
Elvis Died? I was playing with my Hot Wheels track. My mother said she thought he was dead already.
Ali lost to Spinks? My Dad let me stay up late to watch the fight. It was the first boxing match I ever watched, and I was excited to see Ali win. What a letdown.
and here's a weird one I remember for some reason. Maybe because I couldn't believe it was true:
Wayne Gretzky was traded to LA? I was in line at a sub shop. I lost my appetite.

Given the time zone differences I was probably asleep in bed for most of those. I do remember walking down the street the morning 9/11 happened and seeing it all on TV...

This is tough when you get to my age (and somewhat tough for Tim ;D). I can hardly remember where I was this morning!! But I'll try:
JFK - was in 6th grade, stopped the hieroglyphics lesson and sent us home early from school. Challenger - was home sick with flu Reagan shot - heard it at work, was not sent home John Lennon - at a BD party, heard when I got home on the news 9/11: had just arrived at work. Transportation service was suspended, had to walk across a bridge to get a bus and finally got home early evening.
Frank, my cousin swears that Elvis is back at Graceland!

This is what I remember..
JFK - not born yet ;D
Challenger, living in Florida at the time. Classes were interupted to allow the students to go out and watch the blast off. Had my binoculars so it was like I was right there, it was quite disturbing.
John Lennon, ice skating in our backyard
9/11, getting the kids ready for school. Needless to say, they did not go and stayed glued to the TV all day.
Elvis - competeing at a local swim meet, someone told someone and soon everyone was talking about it

JFK- not born yet. Challenger- In 2nd Grade I think.....watched it on TV after we conned the teacher into letting watch it, because Sean O'Shea was trying to listen to it on his radio, under his desk. Lennon- Have no clue! Elvis' Death- Probably drooling as I was only 4 months old. 9/11- Woke up to my roommate running around the house, I'd just gotten back from a tour, and wanted to sleep. I told him to shut up, and attempted to lull myself asleep again- I didn't. Reagan Shot- Again no clue, probably playing with my friends in a sandbox. Spinks/Ali Fight- Have no idea when this even was, so I can't answer. Unlike Tim who just won't remember! Gretzky- No clue, probably out skateboarding during that time, or playing the hottest video game system around- the Original Nintendo!!! Pope- Again, don't know.

I was in schoold watching the challenger blow up. 9/11-I was having coffee with a good friend when an older he knew came up and told us about the trade center and the pentagon. We ran back to his comic book store and logged onto the internet to check out what was going on.

JFK was shot? Not born yet.
The Challenger exploded? College bookstore.
Reagan was shot? In car on vacation with my Dad and Sister. Had just arrived in Naperville, Illinois to visit family (we'd driven in from Denver)
John Lennon was shot? Don't remember but I do remember the coverage on TV but the Beetles was a little before my time.
9/11? At work. My wonderful boss at the time came up and said "The 1st Tower is toast". What a wonderful woman- I really miss her.
