How did it go?

Post by gti steve on Jan 21, 2007 10:47:33 GMT -5
Well first off lemme say, horrible coordination with the city tests.
the test that was supposed to start at 9:00AM didnt start till 11:30am, which pushged everything back by 2.5 hours. people were standing outside like 3-4 blocks worth in the freezing cold, waiting.
so i got there at 3, first one in front of the door, let us in at 4:00. we sat in the gym for like an hour waiting. we go to classrooms, sit down, test doesnt start till 6:15.
so anyway, the test was a sinch. i dont wanna jinx it but i think i did VERY well.
the first part was a 10 min speed round there are 50 questions and you have to breeze thru them. the first 5 questions were diagrams on how to put things together so based on the pictures. pretty simple.
the next 45 questions were like "spelling" questions
for example there were 2 columns. the left column had a number and the right column had a number. if column 1 matche column 2, you fill in A for correct, if it didnt, you fill in B for incorrect
example
ADF11294 ADF11249
the answer would be B because they arent the same number. it could be very tricky if u dont realize it but 45 of these questions to answer in 10 min could be hard.
part 2 was a 5 min "memory" test. you have a picture in front of you and you have to memorize as much as you can about the picture. you can not write anything down, its only memory. after 5 min. they take the book away and we all sit there for 5 min not doing anything. you can not write, just sit in silence and try to imagine the picture in your head.
after 5 min, the last part starts, 150 questions. the first coupe were about the picture. detailed questions like "how many windows were in the hotel" or something like this.
the first 110 were kind of odd questions. they give you a bunch of scenarios and you had to rate a buynch of questions based on a scale of "MOST DESIREABLE, DESIREABLE, NEUTRAL, UNDESIREABLE, HIGHLY UNDESIREABLE" its wierd, because its very subjective. for example "you are a senior fireman, and in the house, the junior firefighters have to clean the equipment. you find out they havent been cleaned yet and you see the junior fireman reading a book."
1) do you yell at the fireman and scold him. most desireable, desirable, neutral, undesireable, highly undesireable 2) do you help the fireman read most desireable, desirable, neutral, undesireable, highly undesireable 3) do you clean them yourself in hopes the junior fireman helps most desireable, desirable, neutral, undesireable, highly undesireable 4) do you ask them to do it in a polite way most desireable, desirable, neutral, undesireable, highly undesireable
etc . etc. they gave you like 30 diff scenarios and you had to rate each question individually.
then the picture part was very easy. theyd take a picture of a fire scene with all fireman and theyd split the picture into 4 sections, A,B,C,D. and they ask "where is the chiefe with the white helmet"
and all you had to do was find the section with the white helmet, which was section C. its not rocket science lol. i didnt finish the test until 7:45
so we'll see in a month how i did!!! cant wait. finally got the ball rolling!
thanks for all your well wishes!
