FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LEGENDS OF BODYBUILDING GATHER AT 2007 ARNOLD CLASSIC EXPO
Girls and Boys Town teams with Ironage.us to raise awareness/funds
COLUMBUS, Ohio- The 2007 Arnold Expo, held in conjunction with the The Arnold Sports Festival the first weekend in March every year, will mark the debut of a groundbreaking charitable event. Ironage.us, a not-for-profit site commemorating classic bodybuilding, will bring together some of bodybuilding's most respected former champions at a "Legends of Bodybuilding" booth to help raise awareness and funds for Girls and Boys Town.
Mike Katz, Bill Grant, Richard Baldwin, Anibal Lopez, Tommy Kono, Leon Brown, Dave Mastorakis, Earl Maynard, Rory Leidelmeyer and Joe Meeko are scheduled to appear at the Ironage.us booth where they will meet and greet fans, sign autographs and pose for photos.
"Many of these men inspired us to pick up weights in the first place, it literally shaped our lives. What a great opportunity for these same legends to pass along that legacy of inspiration to a whole new generation " says Jeff Preston, president of Ironage.us.
"Weight training instills discipline not only in the gym but in other aspects of life" adds Bill Grant, former Mr. America and Mr. World. "You reap what you sow. Proper nutrition, rest, patience and good old fashioned work ethic are equal partners in achieving success."
Girls and Boys Town (girlsandboystown.org) is a not-for-profit organization with 19 facilities in 15 states dedicated to providing healing and hope for tens of thousands of disadvantaged children through its direct care programs.
The historic weekend will kick off on Thursday March 1, 2007 with an Ironage awards dinner at the Frog Bear/Wild Boar www.frogbearbar.com, located a block and a half from the Columbus Convention Center, home of the Arnold Expo. At the dinner the first annual Chuck Sipes Award will be presented to a member of the bodybuilding community who has shown positive leadership to young people. "Chuck's selfless dedication to reforming troubled youth by way of exercise and a positive attitude makes him the perfect namesake for this award," says Ironage.us founder Shawn Perine. This year's award will be presented to Roland Kickinger, the bodybuilder turned actor, star of the FX Channel’s comedy Son of the Beach and A&E movie See Arnold Run (www.kickinger.com). Tickets are $35.00 per person. Seating will be limited and it will be a first come first served basis, so get your reservations in today! Checks payable to Ironage.us can be sent to our treasurer at:
