This is NO joke, just happened this morning. Most of you know me and my husband have 2 kids...3 yr old son and 4 yr old little girl.....well my son did what I am calling the "Christmas Story." Here in NE Ohio it is about 7 degrees VERY cold. So I went out to start my SUV to take the kids to the library. I come back in and Dylan is just WAILING!! I see blood on his finger and in his mouth. Of course I calm him down to find out where in the world this blood is coming from and it is his tongue. He calms down enough for me to say "Dylan tell mommy what happened." He takes my hand and we walk over to our STORM door, and he says(my kids speak very well for their ages,) "Mommy I put my tongue on the door." He points and there is a blood spot with a little piece of skin on the door. I clean it up....TOTALLY crack up laughing by this point. A little later my hubby calls from work and I tell him and he is practically CRYING on the phone from laughing. Good thing is Dylan is ok, a little sore, whining periodically, of course. He is getting ALOT of love from mommy and Alexa. I thought this may give you a giggle on this COLD day!!!!

Sounds like he learned how cold it is the hard way!! Hope Dylan heals soon. Very cute story, Karrie!

Karrie, Can't wait to see how he reacts to the "tongue on the pole" scene in the movie....you guys have to go rent it and play it for him!! Not "quite" cold enough down here in Florida for my kids to pull that one, although my 9 year old decided to play golf in his room Saturday because it was raining outside.......... he hit a perfect drive....right through his bedroom window!!!!!! After a little "talk and behavior management" session with Dad, I really don't expect it to happen again. Gotta admit though, I did get a chuckle out of it when I was off by myself.

Great, I see it now; This gets into mainstream media news, and they'll be pulling "A Christmas Story" off shelves saying it influenced young Dylan to do "such a stupid thing." Funny yes, I laughed, and it's part of growing up. Just don't let the media know please!!!

Thanks everyone! My Dylan is MUCH better today!!!!! I felt so bad for him yesterday.....he chewed his food on the right side of his mouth!!! Alexa was sooo sweet she kept "reminding" me that his tongue hurt and to make sure the food would not "burn." Tim-video very funny!!! Sapph-Of course you did the same thing!!! Keith-I love the phrase you used "talk and behavioral management" I think I am gonna adapt that phrase!!!! YB-I am not worried about mainstream media b/c it was all over the news with much older kids sticking their tongues to poles...although for a 3yr to do it I don't know!!! ;D

Glad your little one is doing better, I now how hard it is to try and comfort them when all you really want to do is laugh - believe me, I know. My kids have hurt themselves so many times doing really silly stuff, for example. Connor was playing around with one of my exercise bands, one that has hard handles on each end. He was sitting in the recliner with his toes in one handle and pulling the other end toward his face. Troy and I both told him to stop or he would hurt himself but he kept on doing it. A few minutes later all we heard was this great big "THUMP", turned around, he had tears running down his face, a big red mark right on his forehead and all we could do was laugh. Good thing he has a sense of humor and was able to laugh too, if it had been Nicholas he would have pulled a temper tantrum ;D

Kids do craszy things, when they're young, and even when their older!
My married 28 year old daughter got ANOTHER Tattoo! (she's married and has 3 kids!)
The first was a little one she and her friends got. A Japanese kanji for "Best friends"....ok.
Then a really nice circle with her husband and childrens names going around the circle, and a kanji for FAMILY in the center...nice.
another kanji on the wrist....hmmm
then a Lotus flower on her lower back....hmmmm x2
NOW....A full kanji with flowers on one bicep....ok...now getting scary....
I told her to grow a beard, and work for a circus....my new nic-name for her is " SIDESHOW"!
SHe's a good kid, and I love her bunches...but the Tat's? hmmmm
