Anyone who lives within driving distance of the falls, and has kids ... I highly recommend it! The kids love it, it's cheap, and it's fun for the adults too (with or without your kids - if you like casinos especially)
My wife and I like to take the kids there. It's only about an hour away, and it has really morphed into a great quick family getaway spot for things other than looking at the falls (which is nice, but does get old after the first 158 times) and touring wax museums which was cool when I was a kid but no longer is for anyone.
We've stayed at just about every hotel there. This time we stayed at the Sheraton on the Falls, which is attached to a new indoor waterpark. You can't beat the value. The park is outsanding - though not quite as good as Great Wolf Lodge - and the price was quite low. Indoor waterparks rule. Nothing like going on monster waterslides in the dead of winter.

Rich, We take our grandchildren to all of these too! Have you checked out this one? The only one we haven't done yet was Kalahari down around Cedar Point. www.splashlagoon.comFrank

It is great that the tourism industry here is starting to expand and making NF a year round destination. Twice a year several of the hotels open up blocks of rooms to local residents for $20 a night and all proceeds go to charity. It is great opportunity for us to see what our city has to offer. Have you ever taken the kids for a hike down in the gorge - it is amazing, you can actually hike right down to the river and fish (I recommend you do not eat anything you catch ) Kids loved it when they were younger - now they are too cool

I went to the falls back in '02. Spent about a half an hour there, and then back into the bus and off to Charleston WV!!! I'd like to go back eventually....

Glad to hear you and your family had fun Rich! We all need a break now and then. I don't travel much because of finances but I'm planning a road trip with some friends to Denver this summer. Another reason I don't travel much is because I can't get enough protein and eat every 3 hours. I mean I can, but it's a pain to travel and eat right.
