Depends. Sometimes I just listen to random songs that I like - the playlist is mostly classic rock. Other times, when I want the music to be hardcore, I go for Linkin Park, Godsmack, Eminem, System of a Down, Disturbed ... stuff like that.

Especially "GET PSYCHO" and "LAND OF CONFUSION"...do you recommend any other hard tracks by them. also ANTHRAX - KING SIZE...all i can say is wow...WOW

Down with the Sickness. Possibly their most famous track. Gets me going. The Sickness is the album I mixed into my training playlist. It's all good for training, though seriously messed up when you listen objectively ...

Once in a while, I used to listen to old school rock like AC/DC. I also like some of the more recent stuff by Saliva, but, I'm really not listening to anything, right now, when I train. The closer I get to a contest, the more the gym becomes my "church" so to speak........ I like to feel and hear myself straining against HEAVY weight,I like to listen to the plates clanging against each other, I want the whole sensory experience to be heightened...it makes the mind/muscle connection incredibly strong.

Anyone listens to Opera while working out?? At times it can be quite motivating...My fav is three tenors live in Rome....which has Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti and Jason Carrreras. It's a blast. As much wierd as it sounds I love listening to Reggae while working out. Something to do with the fact that maybe I am from the tropical island GOA,lol

Not a hardcore RnR person here:
Love & Rockets ("So Alive" for legs), Pete Yorn, Matchbox 20, Toad the Wet Sprocket; sometimes some Country like Toby Keith.

For Treadmill: Disco [gotta do treadmill: weight and cardio issues]. For most lifting: classic rock. For max lifting [Powerlifter of sorts]: tracks from the Conan movies, Total Recall, Mars from Holst "Planets", Grace Jones "Demolition Man".
Truism: as with routines, you gotta find what works for you.

Ok.. I forgot another staple of my workout music- Green Day- their music really gets my a$$ in gear at the gym. Right now at work I'm listening to Alanis Morrisette, Jagged LIttle Pill album I uncovered at home...... boy she was angry in the 90s... maybe I'll try it at the gym.. the anger could motivate me through a tough workout.
