Why do people have to be so f*cking phoney? So I feel I'm being fed a bunch of bullsh1t from my boss at work just so I stay on. I'm not working nearly as much as I want to and I can barely pay the bills. Imagine that, here is someone (me) who WANTS to work 40-50 hours a week and instead of helping me out they give the hours to people who have been there longer. How's a new guy supposed to get a break? Well I'm applying for another job., and I'll hang on to this while I wait for a better one to open up.
I'm just upset at people who make sh1t up just to make you feel better when in fact they are talking out of their a$$. Here I am young, eager, willing to help others, with a Masters degree, and I can't be given the opportunity. I know what you all will say, "You have to MAKE opportunities" and I agree, that's why I'm going to aggressively pursue another job as best as I can.
Sorry just had to vent guys. Today was just a horrible day at "work", however I had a GREAT workout. Totally helped me out, I love the weights.

Senority and .50 cents will get you a cup of coffee at 7-11 I always say! At least it should.
Mystic, my motto is simple. You know who "number 1" is and ain't nobody paying your bills except you. Go out and get another job that pays what you want, and gives the hours you want/need. Make sure your ass is covered before you burn the other bridge though!

Mystic! Sorry for the bad day! Hold on to what you have until that next opportunity comes along or you create it. In my younger years, I got pissed and quit a few jobs just because I got pissed off, and didn't have anything else lined up, and had to seriously hussle to stay on my feet. Hang in there buddy......Chinese Philosophy = " Good things come to he who waits (weights!) .

Fresh out of grad school now I'm a counselor in a private practice. There are like 15 other therapists and basically it takes 6 months to a year until things pick up. I feel if I quit the job then I might regret it because it may pick up, it may not. So far it's been alot of empty promises, but there's always a chance of it working out.
I have a few patients I'd hate to leave, and because my schedule is so sporadic finding another job that would not conflict would be a challenge.
I have already applied at a few other places, and if I get the job and they offer me a salaried income (would would be better IMO) rather than the pay per session thing I got going now (which is a whole nother story since are billing department are total morons and rarely get anything right.)
I will apply at other places and if I get a really good opportunity I'll jump on it, but for now I will stick with what I'm doing and give it some time.
My boss (the psychiatrist who owes the practice) said I could shadow him and learn alot about my field more this way, while I wait for things to pickup for me. May be a good opportunity to learn and be a step ahead, but then again the bills have to be paid somehow.

Maybe this is from God but I applied to 4 different place looking for therapists last night and today I got a phone call from the one I really wanted! I spoke with the lady, gave her my references and she said she'd call back to setup an interview.
The best part is this job is part time, and the pay is great., so I will be okay financially as well as time because I can still keep the job I have now., especially while I wait for my patient base to increase. Now I haven't had the interview and I don't have the job yet, but I am very hopeful! I'm qualified for the position as far as I can see, and I just have to get through it all. Wish me luck friends!
