The owner of my gym is not allowing deads anymore! Looks like I will be traveling for that day. Randy, I read this entire thread and I did not see why the owner is not allowing deads anymore, or do you guys not know??? I know my gym has signs all over about not dropping weights. Just curious. Thinks he is going to attract some NORMAL people

Thinks he is going to attract some NORMAL people "NORMAL" people......like a "yuppy" gym. That is what we call that around here.....people that lift little weights and do cardio until no tomorrow.

But Randy, what the owner says is the problem? Too noisy, too impressive, too heavy, too dangerous for the "normal people"? I just can see any good reason!!! If he wants to attract a certain kind of people, the attitude of the members is what he must be concerned about... not the exercises they do! I can find someone doing triceps kickbacks yelling and sweating to the point of scaring "normal people"!!! Can you do dumbels deadlifts at least?

I'm really surprised to hear this about a gym. I have all the love and respect for my gym even more! The former owner that owned it for years, Shaun Mahany, competed here locally in Colorado and is a hardcore guy and understands it. The new owner Mat Rauzi is a powerlifter and used to compete in stuff like the Highland Games, etc.. Our gym is full of free weights, machines and lots of Strongman type stuff. The "normal" people here I guess go to Bally's, 24Hr Fitness or Better Bodies.... I have been to all of those and they arent' all normal.. ha. Anway, this has given me a soap box to brad about my gym. Here is a link to the website that is being worked on now (it's only a logo now): www.mahanysgym.com/Also- I'm posting a pic from 2002 or our current owner Matt- he's a GREAT guy and HUGE (the picture doesn't do him justice)

That has to be the most destrubing trend in in gym's. It's getting harder and harder to find good gyms. There is only 3 hardcore gyms I know of.
I will joinging a gym in the next few days that is truely hardcore, but it like 40 miles from my house. But its worth it.
