Yesterday was the last heavy leg workout for my nephew before his show. He is 17 days out.
So we started with Squats
135 for 10 (warm up)
225 for 5 nice and easy
315 for 5, at this point he is fine but something popped in my left leg. Along the outside of my thigh it really began to hurt. I first thought "It might be nothing let me do another set and figure this out."
405 for 5 easy reps. I am feeling as strong as a bull. I feel like I can get 495 for at least 5! Mark is getting up for his set too.
The music is loud and there is a group of teenagers who try to lift hard, but really do not know what they are doing.
495 is next. I get one rep and my left leg just is in too much pain. I could push it and get 5, I mean I feel strong, but I do not know what the hell is going on so I wisely end the set. But this pisses me off!!!
495 for Mark. Now before yesterday Mark has only ever done 2 reps with this weight.
So we wrap his knees and he positions himself under the bar.
He unracks the weight and steadies himself.
first rep looks a little shakey. But he gets it on his own.
Then something happens
He gets this look in his eyes...........a strange look
I yell, come on Mark, whose the pu**y you or the weight! who is in control!
Mark hunkers down and gets 6, yes thats right 6 more reps. His set is a total of 7 reps with 495 at paralle!!!!!!!!
I'm thinking (where the hell did the kid this from). mark rakcs the weight at lets out a yell!!!!!!!
Now leg presses
1 set at 800 lbs
Then we drop to 600lbs
I am taking it easy and only doing straight sets as I try to work out my left leg issue.
Mark does his set at 600. He gets 10 reps, I have him rack the weight and wait 10 seconds, then do it again. He gets no less then 7 reps, rack the weight and rest 15 seconds, do it again. He gets 5 reps. Then I take 100lbs off and he does it again, then another 100 reps and he does it again.
Mark some how makes it through the set and is able to get himself out of the leg press. He is wobbling around like a freakin penguin and he is snarling at me.
Next up, 3 supersets.
Hacks, leg extensions, and sissy squats.
These are painfull, the weight is light but the pain is real. Are legs are pumped and screaming for mercy, which we refuse to give.
The hacks go well, rock bottom. The nice thing about this hack machine is its almost vertical as opposed to a 45 degree angle, makes it harder!!!!!
Hell Yeah! leg extensions, if you folks could only see the look on our faces when we do these, the pain is unbearable!
Sissy's not for sissies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We end with a couple of sets of calf raises. Were burnt!
Oh yeah, did I forget to mention to the 20 odd steps we have to climb to get out of our hell hole (actually its more like our heaven) of a gym???
