Folks On Friday April 27th, my oldest sister passed away after a short but fierce battle with cancer. Friday was a hard day as my entire family sat by her bedside and prayed for God to take her. I was proud of my 14 year old son who showed so much bravery by being by her side.
My sister spent her life as a care giver. Always working with those in need. She chose this proffession despite the lack of financial reward. I remember how many times she worked with trouble youth, or the mentally and physically handicap. She worked with battered women, and was a foster mother for several kids.
One story sums up her life. She was working in a group home for the mentally and physically handicapped. There was a young man named Steve, who was confined to a wheel chair. He could walk with cruches but it was extremely difficult. I remember how huge his arms and shoulders were. My sister Lynn thought taking Steve to the local pool would be a good idea. SHe spoke with the head life guard and arranged for a time when the pool would be empty. She brought Steve to the pool and we all helped him into the water. Since Steve was in the water he was able to balance himself. He began to walk on his own power. His face lit up. Steve shouted "look everyone I can walk, I can walk."
My sister was able to give him this experiance. That was the type of person she was.
I will miss her.

Steve,
I'm very sorry for your loss. Cancer is a devastating disease. I lost my Mom to lung cancer many years ago, and my 36 year old niece last year.
I am glad that your son has drawn positive things from this experience. SHE will live on in HIM because of that.
I know you will miss her, but find peace knowing that she is in your heart always.
Peace to you and your family. You are all in my prayers.
Frank

Steve your sister sounded like a GREAT person. I'm sorry for your loss. I know the feeling, I lost my uncle to cancer and I stood by him throughout the whole ordeal. It was tough for me and after chemo the doctors said he would be ok.... 4 days later he passed on. One of the toughest moments in my life to date.

Very sorry, Steve. My father had inoperable cancer, and though we knew we would miss him, we prayed for his well being and that he would be taken in order to end his misery. So I relate.
Sincere sympathy to you and your family. Your sister sounds like a wonderful and compassionate lady, and of course she will be missed. But she is in a better place and free from suffering. I pray for healing and closure for you and your loved ones. Be strong for the rest of the family. Blessings all around.

I don't remember exactly when I started believing in ghosts ... or maybe spirits is a better word. But I know that I echo Frank's thoughts - and that is why I do believe.
At the end of it all our greatest ... our ONLY legacy is the impression we made on the people we touched during our time here. I see the spirits of my grandparents in my parents, aunts and uncles, myself and my siblings and cousins. This is how I know my grandparents are not gone. I see them every day.
Your sister must have lived such a great life, doing what she did. Think of how many pieces of her spirit live on in people she helped - not to mention family. When you start to finish your mourning, celebrate her legacy. Sounds like she has left a phenomenal one.
