I am having some of the best workouts of my life!
Training with my nephew has been awesome. I push him and he pushes me.
Well we now have been joined by my 14 year old son.
Its his first time really training. He has been able to hang with us on everything we do (we lower the weights just not the intensity).
Here is our back width workout we did today.
Underhanded grip pulldowns
3 sets to failure 255 (me and the nephew, damian 125)
We started out with the exercise just to get some blood in the muscle. We kept increasing the weight until we hit are taget weight of 255. I was up first, pulling and pulling, it felt heavy but I started grunting and snorting, Mark was behind me yelling encourgement, while damian my son yelled "come on old man!"
Mark performed his sets the same way, while I yelled "who wants to be the state champ huh?"
Damian was up and gave it his all pulling and squezzing while we yelled "mass on the back!"
Next up wide grip pulldowns.
Done same as above
3 sets 225 to failure (damian used 105)
Same intensity. Failure to us means you can't complete another rep, forced or otherwise. It usually hits us when every muscle starts cramping in our back.
Straight arm pullovers with a rope handle
2 sets 105 (damian used 45)
We ended this exercise a little early. Although we were getting a decent pump it just wasn't working for us.
Finally our favorite T-bar rows. This is the type of row in which you lay on the inclined pad.
Descending sets starting with 175 lbs. We use 5-25lbs plates with a 10 lbs plate in between and we strip 35 lbs off and keeping going until thats all that remains.
We each did two sets of this.
We mess with the sterio until "let the bodies hit the floor" comes on.
My first set was rough, heart pounding inner back muscles cramping, there is no stopping, only growing.
Pull you son of bit*h I think,
Pull old man, Damian yells
COme on yells Mark
Mark does his set, I scream "come get some, who is the pu**y huh?" Pull the weight, sweat pours down his body as he yanks the weight up, more weight is stripped he keeps going.
Damian does his set the same way (just less weight) I yell out all the names of the kids who have teased him at school over the past year, Damian bares down and continues to pull.
Second set.
I start out insanely pulling the weight so hard its smacking into the pad. My eyes shut tight, and all I can thick about is a thick back and pulling this weight, Damian yells again "come on old man! Your the pu**y now!"
Mark yells "did you hear that your son is calling you and old pu**y!"
The weight is stripped off each new set brings new levels of pain! New levels of growth!
The final set has me barely moving the weight, the pain is so bad my legs are bobbing, I can barely see straight. I drop the bar, exhausted, my back is cramped and pumped, I am breathing hard, real hard, sweat pours into my eyes stinging them!
Marks up.
Come on little wonder boy, Mr. Champion I yell. He pulls. He goes through what I went through. He finishes his last drop, "oh no you don't I yell, pull more you little pu**y, meow, meow" I yell, he somehow manages 10 more reps. "Yeah buddy" .
Damian's turn,
"come on you little punk" I yell "show me what you got!"
He grits his teeth and pulls, his last drop set i don't let him finish. I want to see what he is capable of. He pulls and pulls gritting his teeth. He finally stops and runs to the bathroom,
Damian comes out of the bathroom, "damn that was good" he said.
Yeah buddy, an Iron Brother is born!!!
