Well the first tournament didnt go as well as i would have liked. In the first game against a team of all 8 year olds my 7 year olds held their own well. going into the last inning we were down only by 5 and hitting the ball well. So there was hope. then we fell apart in the 6th inning and lost it...I got to give them credit they hung in there.
In the losers bracket we won the next game but it was a back and forth game. Then in the last inning we exploded for 10 runs and the win.
We lost the 3rd game to our own 8 year old team. They handed it ot us pretty good. We hung for about 3 innings then we just stopped hitting and feilding the ball. It ended up pretty bad.
The kids had fun but i could see the disappointment on their face. I felt like i had let them down cause they lost. Pratice all this week to get ready for the next tournament which starts this Saturday. Retooled the infield a little and the outfield to give me more balance in both areas. I had to sacrafice a good catcher( my son) and place him in the infield at 3rd to shore it up and move a good glove to the outfield. He's never played third but he is willing to learn and work at it to help the team. Hey, he a catcher and a good one that even the coach of the 8 y/o team said that he wished he had him. However he's mine!!!
Now to get ready for round 2 and a new tournament......An hope for a better outcome..

Can only get better, bro. The main thing is that they are participating and you are there with them. The wins will come!

Agree with Gerry........
Hoops.........it's not the destination, but the journey!
Hope you have something planned for them at the end of the season. Start thinking of something cool to reward them, win or lose!
