I did it!
I won the heavyweight class and overall to win the Capital City Natural Bodybuilding Championships.
I can't believe how high I'm flying now. I've had this show in mind since I did it last year and that I could do pretty well, hoped to win, but wasn't sure and this is considered one of the toughest natural shows out West. I was absolutely floored when they announced my name (and yes, tears came to my eyes; and still do).
Reaching a level such as this is something I only dreamed of since I was a kid, watching Arnold at the Olympia on Wide World of Sports. It still hasn't sunken in but thus far it feels great!
What chokes me up even more is that during the Overall, people were yelling out "Go Bob!" all throughout the crowd. It took me several minutes to realize that I was the only Bob on stage (I thought they were cheering for one of the other guys). This is by far the highlight of my career.
I also can't say enough about how well run and fun the show was. The competitors were phenomenal and I think we all had a great time and enjoyed each others company backstage. Everybody supported each other and helped and had fun.
Thank you to all here for the support, encouragement and PM's you've given me lately. It really does make a difference! Now it's off for a day devoted entirely to our kids for putting up with Daddy's bodybuilding stuff!
Bob

Honestly, Bob...I knew you could do it. Be proud of what you have accomplished. You have let your actions speak for you louder than any words could have. In my book that's the way it always has been...talk is cheap..go out and show me something! well you have shown everyone what you are capable of. I am VERY happy for you, Bob!!

Just saw this and am thrilled. Kept my fingers crossed for Keith and Bob and they both came through.
Have come to know Bob a bit through the forum and e mail and he is truly a class act as an athlete and person. This could not have happened to a better person.
Bob, enjoy and savor this. You worked hard and earned it. Huge props, and just have a terrific off season withthe family.

Hey all, Just got home and want to thank you all for the support. It was a great weekend for all of us (Yeah, Keith!) I'll try and respond a little more in depth tomorrow as I'm a bit tired now (must be from all the carbs at the fondue restaurant last night...) I've been struggling with a new photo hosting program so hopefully this link to some show photos will work. My wife took all of the pics; she's getting better but some may be a bit blurry and some of the guys aren't locked into their poses yet (sorry). The things I feel I need to work on: I have no biceps peak (genetic), soft in the glutes/hams (I feel that I'm close!); quad sharpness/separation (close there, too!); getting my poses symmetrical instead of focusing on what I think of as my weak areas. Any and all comments are appreciated. I can probably upload or send some larger images for anybody interested in an in-depth critique (I always appreciate the feedback from everybody here). There are some captions with the photos also. share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0AasWjdw3ctmLjwAlso, I received the most fantastic comment I've ever had before. After the show as I was signing the paperwork for my urine test one of the judges and WNBF Pro, Denise James, as well as the promoter and WNBF Pro Tina Smith, asked if I'd ever heard of the bodybuilder Bob Paris and that my physique reminded them of his (classical, symmetric). Bob Paris is not only one of my favorite all time bodybuilders, but his physique continues to inspire me as to what the "ideal" is. To be included in the same thought is beyond belief to me, even though I don't consider myself anywhere near his level. Thanks, and will try and respond more tomorrow, Bob

thats quite the compliment Bob-Bob Paris did have a beautiful physique and very elegant posing. Like I said on the OCB board, you could definitely tighten up the glutes/hams..and now looking at your pics again I think maybe you could tweak your foot position on the rear double bicep..maybe take the extended leg a fraction wider??
