Leaving tomorrow for Pittsburgh. This should be a very deep and competitive (and long! ;D ) event. Will try to get to an internet cafe to post updates. I think www.bodybuilding.com and/or www.musculardevelopment.comwill cover it on line. Will see you all soon.

I will most likely be going to the Friday night prejudging. I have a guy in the over 50 heavy weight class. I have no desire to sit through 8 hours of contest Saturday night.

Hear you, Eric. Last year's finals went 7.5 hours!! This year it will start an hour earlier and Teen Fitness awards will be given after prejudge. So hoping it might end by midnight!
Not much going on today except for an early weigh in. There is a second weigh in tomorrow morning, so athletes have the option to select one.
Heard that Bill Comstock will be there for MD, so there will be photos on line.

Prejudge still going on in figure!
Some men's over 40 highlights:
Vinny Galanti will probably win lhw, but think there are a couple others, particularly Anthony Finocchiaro, who look really good and can push him.
Gus Carter should win hw; best I've seen him in quite a while. SHW between Mike Horn and Daryl Jones.
Tim, think that Dan looked good. May take a trophy. Some of the callouts were strange, so tough to tell.
Kudos to Marty Vranicar, who looked good enough to win the fifties.
More to follow when I can. No photos posted as yet, probably later.

Thanks for keeping us updated Gerry. I REALLY wanted to go and RECON everything for next year, but we're babysitting all 3 grandchildren this weekend! Keep us updated. I'm especially interested in how the over 50 lightweights are looking. Pics? Have fun..................... ;D Well....as much fun as you can have in....Pittsburgh!

Congrats to old school bodybuilder Marty Vranicar for taking the Over-50 class......he looked as good or better than he did back in the day when he was competing in the AAU! Marty Vranicar:

Was pleasantly surprised that finals were over before 11PM!! Started at 5PM and figure was streamlined, so that helped.
Was great to see my buddy Steve (1400) and his nephew Mark at the finals. Mark may be on that stage in a year or two!!

I'm confused by the MD site. It mentions who won pro cards and they were both in the 40+ class. Doesn't the over winner of the 40+ class AND the winner of 50+ class win pro cards? why would two guys from the same calss win pro cards?
Maybe it's a mistake but I don't get it. I'm trying to get my partner Dale to get ready for this next year but if the 50+ class is getting side stepped then what's the point.
thanks, Jeremy

Jeremy, there are 4 pro cards for the masters men:
In the over 40 division, overall winner and overall runner up earn pro status (for this year, that is overall Andy Haman and runnerup in overall Anthony Finocchiaro). Works the same as USA in this division.
In the over 50 and over 60 divisions, each overall winner earns pro status. Marty Vranicar went pro as overall 50 winner, as did overall in 60s.
And also for the women, overall winners of over 35 BB and over 35 figure earned pro status.
