yEP EXACTLY AS IT READS WORLD WAR 3 WITH MY INLAWS HAS BEGUN!

My father calls myhouse last night, of course when i am not home, and laid into my wife for NO reason other than to be a DICK! Then i find out he was rude to my daughter on the phone. All because they went out of town for a week and we used their truck to take the kids bike riding, which we were told we could use the truck, and when he came home last night we had left the bikes in the back because we were going biking again today. Now all of us thought they weren't coming home till today or i would have had the bikes out of the truck and the tonto cover back on. Well he procedes to call my wife at 9-10pm last night and just lay into her to the point she was crying. Low and behold i got off work early last night and was home by 10;30 and just went bazurk. I went out to my back garage which they have stored things in for years and took it over to their house and put it on their lawn. Then i literaly brought HELL down to earth to the point my wife got scared of me. This man wnats to act like a hard ass he just barked up the WRONG tree. I am still mad as hell today. I basically told him that in my eyes we are dead to him and that he is to not even come to MY house. Nore will i go to theirs. If my wife wants to speak to him that is fine but if my kids dont want anything to do with him that is also fine i will NOT force them to see them. I have had enough of his rants and him thinking he is a hard ass and can push us around at will.

I WILL BRING HELL ON EARTH WITH THIS MAN AND HE WILL WISH THAT HE HAD NEVER CROSSED MY PATH AND TREAT US THE WAY THAT HE DID LAST NIGHT. I WILL NOT FORGIVE ANYMORE. I HAVE LET THEM STORE THINGS IN MY GARAGE FOR FREE FOR YEARS AND THEN GET TRREATED LIKE THIS. HELL NO!!! I WAS SO ENRAGED LAST NIGHT I COULDNT EVEN SPIT AND ALL I THOUGHT ABOUT WAS INFLICTING PAIN. I FELT MYSELF GETTING OUT OF CONTROL AND KNEW I NEEDED TO GET AWAY FROM THEM.

If it wasnt for my parents living near us also i would put a for sale sign up in my yard and move tomorrow. I would move so freaking far away that they would never be able to come visit or bit*h about anything stupid again. Plus they would never see their grand kids grow up. An right now my kids dont want anything to do with them either and i dont blame them.

Yes my stress level is high right now and i am in need of some serious venting so i thought i would rant a little here to see if it helps out. Probably not but it is worth a try. I KNOW ONE THING IT AINT OVER BY A LONG SHOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for my diet last night it kinda went to hell as for i ate some natty pb till i was content. my wife was trying to give me anything to eat to try and calm me......

Dude I know how you feel. In-laws and family can be very difficult. In my case its not the in-laws it my own family!

I wish i could explain how furious/enraged i was last night...I couldnt sleep for sh*t all night...

HOLY "S" Hoops. You alright man? Take it easy. You will give yourself a heart attack. If you are freaking then they are winning. Misery takes company and he obviously wants to bring you down to his level. brush it off and move on. I think you are giving him more satisfaction than he deserves. Chill man. tke care of your wife and children. It will be ok soon!

We have some stupid rellys too but honestly if you jump up and down in front of them,that makes them feel good-been there,done that. I know you had good reason to get mad and I probably would have been in there boots and all myself but in the long run you would probably do best just to avoid them if at all possible.
now go and hit those weights with a vengeance to release that stress buddy!

Take the high road , hoops. be courteous and respectful, but don't have a thing to do with them. They acted out on the assumption you would react like a kid, and you did. That gave them the payoff they wanted. You got "punished" and they got to feel justified and superior.

And they will do it again, now that they know they can get this from you.

The high road is a respectful distance. courteous. but distant. People treat you they way you train them to. YOU be the adult and let THEM be the kid with the tantrum. When they call to rant at you POLITELY ask if you can discuss it calmly later and say good bye.

Until then, don't talk to them. None of you. In time, they will wonder why they have not heard from you and Then you can explain your feelings.

The sad fact is we will always be little kids to our parents until we teach them otherwise.

Family can be idiots. There is not enough room for me to tell the stories about my stupid relatives, and the anger they have put me through.

You said your wife was crying because she was upset. That's understandable, but how does she feel about her Dad today? If I've learned one thing over 30 years of marriage, is that, although my love for my wife is unconditional, and I would walk through fire for her, the old saying "blood is thicker than water", comes to mind. There have been a few occasions that my wife woould have disowned her family, but there have also been a few times that I was put on the back-burner for them too. She may not LIKE him right now, but she may always love her dad.

These situations happen man. It triggers an inate "fight-or-flight" reaction. In your case, we see which one it triggered!

You're doing the right thing right now. TALK!
You can vent to us, talk with your wife and kids, friends at the gym, whoever, but DO talk.

Don't over react. Sometimes we do things out of anger, that in retrospect, we look back, and say, "Man, I was really stupid!"

I know your REALLY pissed off right now, but time will help, and heal. We may be able to forgive, but we never forget.

Now......hug your wife. Play with the kids, and continue YOUR life.
AND........GO EAT A PIZZA! or WHATEVER!!!!!! ;D

Hoops, I've been that angry a time or two in my life and its a scary feeling! Please don't do anything irrational or something that you will regret later.

There is some good advice from everyone and just remember we all love ya here and don't want anything bad to happen to you or your family!

Taking the high road is very good advice,

Something recently has happended between my brother and I. He doesn't know what I know, which is he is trying to tear something down by stabbing me in the back.

Family sucks, but can also be wonderful. We as individuals always have a choice.

Choose your words and actions wisely hoops.

Steve, can understand your rage but try not to let them get the better of you again. We can choose our friends but unfortunately, cannot choose family.

Your father in law had no cause for what he did and how he acted. Just have no more to do with him. Unless the bridges become mended, your wife and kids will have to see him where he lives, if they want to.

Just a bad situation all around. Call if you need anything, bud.
