"The House" was in Pittsburgh, and he said there that his next show was North Americans. It didn't seem like he had any intention of doing the USA.
Probably just keeping his options open. In Pittsburgh, he looked more than a week out. So it will most likely turn out to be a wise decision for him to compete in Cleveland. He should be super ready for that, and hopefully in the running for pro status (overall open men's winner goes pro).

Congratultions to Kirk DeFrancesco, who trains at my gym, for placing 4th in a very tough heavyweight class.

That's great, Eric. Kirk looked really good in these pictures. He won his class at North American last year, and looks like he improved over that. This and the other classes were super competitive, and he did extremely well.

as some saw my friend Rob didn't do so well... we believe it was cutting water that killed him. He had the cuts 12 hrs out from pre-judging then when he got on stage.. FLAT!!!

Wouldn't have anything to do with Putnum being on the cover of FLEX last month, would it? Politics?
Congrats to Chuck Lyons from my gym. Took 11th in light heavies. I think his timing was off a bit. He looked a LOT better a few days ago.

I'll BE THERE, unless I have a wedding (for some reason I think there isa conflict - anyone know the date?) May be a good time for you to come to Cleveland and for us to get a workut in together and watch the show and get some grub

Met Putnam and his wife. Super people. But going by the pictures, I would not have had him better than 4th. The guys placed behind him all were in better shape. If Peter came in like he did last year, then he would have deserved it. At least, sense prevailed in the overall and he did not get a pro card!

Putnam winning the class!! !! Now that is a joke. No offence meant but just look at the conditioning differences in the top guys in the class compared to him. It's sad when such obvious placings are given based on who has been getting exposure vs. someone who was actually better on stage Sal

Amen, brother!! In a political and hype free world, that should not happen! But judging is totally subjective and biased and this is sadly what frequently happens.
But how can these athletes find incentive to be their best again? Guess that has to come from within, not from the competition!

But how can these athletes find incentive to be their best again? Guess that has to come from within, not from the competition! That's exactly it. It has to come from within. If they don't truly have it there, then they will never stand the test of time anyway. It's just a shame when someone who was better gets done wrong and they may never have the opportunity again. What if the kid that got second happens to have a fmailty member die or some other off the wall scenario and can't compete the following year and then has to work 2 jobs to support his family the year after that. It MAY have been his one and only chance and he gets the raw deal because of someones popularity??? Not saying any of those things will happen but my point is you never know and you shouldn't get overlooked because someone has more exposure in a mag or something. Sal

We think a lot alike, Jeremy. Amateur level competition is time consuming and expensive (gym time, food, supps, tanning, travel, accommodations, contest fees, etc. ad nauseum).
I coached someone who planned 3 years for one show, since he needed to save the money, and have the time to train. Sacrificed everything, came to the show in top shape and was 3rd to two locally known guys who were less conditioned and proportionate than him on that day. So he didn't get the NQ. If he had, he may have done Jr Nats which was two weeks after this show.
Not long after, he injured his back. then he got married, had kids and he never got back on stage again. So Jeremy, you are right about not knowing what is around the corner.
Sorry to go a bit off topic, but judges should realize that their decisions can have short and long term effects on people's lives. Their decisions should be valid and explainable.

wow, Jerome Ferguson didn't wn? I thought he was the favorite. Although if those photos are of that contest, he doesn't look that ripped. Huge though.

I had a good look at both the figure and womens physique classes and this is what I thought: The winners of Class C and F in figure were more deserving of the overall title than Catherine Anderson. Once again the judging seemed vague and a little irregular. One class they go for harder and the next softer, what gives???
I cannot get used to seeing women with mens faces a la physique and that is why I prefer the look of Angela Salvano and Galina Serdtsev over the overall winner. The lady that won definitely had the best conditioning but her face looked too masculine for me.

I absolutely love Ferguson, great personand great physique but he looked out of it judging by the photos. His phyhsique has gotten "harder" but not necessarily better. He may be a victim of being seen too much. THat and Gerry needs to show him how to hit s rear double biceps pose!!! Sal

Lol, Jeremy! Always thought that with more polished posing, he would make more noise. Always had the impression that he wings it on stage, at least partially.
I suspect Ferguson will go to North Americans. Wish him well.
