OK. Some of you know I've been working on software to track people's training, diet and bodyweight
(or maybe you didn't - if that's the case ... I've been working on software to track people's training, diet and bodyweight ... now you know.
It's called CleverFit. I wrote a chunk of it last summer and personally have been using it all year for every workout. This summer, since I got home from Calgary, I've pretty much spent every single day working on version 2. I just calculated that I've spent about 150 hours on it this summer, and about 200 last summer and over the year. So about 350 hours of my time have gone into this. About 14 days.
Why? Well, worst case scenario, I have a program that I really like that I can use to track my training. And if that's all I get out of it I'm cool with that because the truth is I enjoy programming (when I'm not answering to an annoying boss) the way some people enjoy doing crosswords. But the BEST case scenario, one which I am aggressively pursuing this year along with a business partner, is that I can sell it commercially to individual lifters and to independent personal trainers. Eventually I'll want to sell it to gyms, but not yet.
So why do I need your help?
Version 2 needs to be tested by people other than me. Since I wrote it, I tend to use it the way I meant things to happen, which is NEVER what happens in real life. So I need beta testers ... desperately, actually.
Here's a short feature list:
- Tracking for multiple profiles (this feature is for personal trainers to use)
- Track/graph bodyweight by date
- Track meals eaten - gives protein, carbs, fat and cal totals by meal and day
- Displays PB and last weight(s) used when logging a set
- Track regular sets, compound sets, super sets and drop sets
- Automatically tracks personal best lifts by exercise, according to a minimum rep count that you set
- Automatically tracks intensity (lbs lifted/min) for each workout - this feature can be turned off if desired
- Automatically tracks total lifted per set and workout (automatically doubles weight for single hand/leg exercises)
- Intensity graph by muscle groups worked
- Progress graph by exercise
- Export workout to text (good for posting in online journals)
- Workout template designer (this is where you can set up and save the workouts you intend to do)
- Diet template designer (ditto above)
There's more. I'm working on promo material as well (web site's are a pain to design!). I'll put a few screen shots up in a bit so you can see what it looks like.
The last 2 features are all I have left to design. It's ready for beta right now. It only works in windows (sorry Mac users!).
If you are willing to help me out and beta test it I'd REALLY appreciate it.
And if you don't want to beta test, I do have a more simple request .... what kinds of blank logging sheets have you seen that you like? I'm going to build in a blank sheet printer where people can choose fron 3-4 templates. It's easy to do, I just need ideas.
