Anyone seen this movie? If not, I suggest doing so right away! Probably the most POWERFUL movie of the year. Forrest Whittiker was simply AMAZING in his role. Its a real keeper!

It was a terrific movie and very well done. Forrest Whitaker deservedly won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance. i don't think it would have been the same film without him.
Also, for anyone who has not seen The Queen, go rent the DVD. It is subtly and quietly powerful. Helen Mirren won every award including the Best Actress Oscar, and she captures the essence of Elizabeth II and her dislike for Princess Diana brilliantly.
Two must see films!!

I'll have to check out The Last King of Scotland- I'm sure I'd like it. I'm kind of into Brit/UK history type biographical films lately.
Gerry - I saw The Queen and it is a really good movie. Helen Mirren pulls it off completely. I don't know that the whole Monarchy this is something that many American's understand or this history of it. I would also suggest seeing "Elizabeth"- it was out several years ago and an excellment movie. It really illustrates the sacrifices the Royals have made (ok well.. USED to make) in order to fullfill their duties.

There is a new movie coming in the fall with Cate Blanchett playing Elizabeth I again which has good advance buzz. She is another great actress who should ace it I'm sure.
