Well folks, I thought about putting this in the log section but what the hey, I am on cloud 9 right now so here goes.
Got up at 4:30am and drove to Indiana PA, (about an hour and a half away from where I live). to compete at a non sanctioned YMCA bench and deadlift meet.
I was nervous, although only a few lifters showed up, it was quality over quantity. Espcially when this 312 lbs 22 year beast Paul showed up. He was like 6'2". Scary
Anyway I opened my bench with 385, then hit my 2nd attempt at 405. Feeling good I went for 410 but just missed it. Paul hit 375 with an opener but missed 425 twice. So I ended up wining the bench meet in the heavies!
Next up deadlift. I opened with 500, went up easy! 2nd attempt 550 easy again. 3rd attempt I went for 575, but due to the size of the plates, they were having trouble making it fit so I said "lets go 585," to make it easy on them. I got 585 nice and strong.
They gave me a 4th attempt and I nailed 600!!!!!!!!
I am supercharged! Push/pull total of 1005 lbs!
I have to say a special thanks to my buddy Jim. He is an awesome bencher and came out to simply support me. Dude is awesome and way cool, not to mention a hell of a bencher (try 425lbs at a bodyweight of 198!!!)
Today goes down as one of the best days of my life!

Thanks Eric I think your right! Powerlifting is my calling. I still need and want to lose weight. But now the goal is to get to 250 but improve the lifts. If I can do this, I might even do a strong man show!
Congrats on your big win big guy. I told Joe M at work, and he said "isn't he a little old for that?!?!"
I replied "like fine wine brother!" LOL!
Joe sends his congrats!

Truly fantastic Steve! 600lbs deadlift… it's ridiculous (The lift is ridiculous... not you I would not dare saying that to a guy who could deadlift me for 50 reps ) ... a strong man conpetition? You should go for it!!!!

Thanks Karrie, and everyone else! I am still on cloud 9. I have been dreaming of deadlifting 600 and benching 400!
Can you tell I am still excited. I may have a video clip and will post it when I get it.
