Your Input Would be Greatly Appreciated!!!!! Vince… person to person is the ULTIMATE key! (I'll do my best to explain it with a correct English grammar…) Find a way to present your offer to a group of persons… but face to face! For example, approach the human ressources department of a company and offer them to do a special presentation during lunch time to their employees about healty life style and fitness (in other words, your business). The advantages for them? You'll offer a very good corporative rate for their employees, healty employes are more productive employees… and the company is going to improve his good corporation image by promoting healty activities like that… This way, you'll be able to personally sensitize your potential consumers to the importance of your business! This is just ONE example of person to person marketing... Hope it helps. Mo

Vince, I used to be a stock broker at one time, but sales are sales! This may or may not help, but here goes: Find a niche market or something you have in common with your audience. Some examples: Childhood obesity: This is all over the news and has governmental support. Now you just have to find a way to effect that market. Schools: principals, gym teachers, etc. can get you some pretty decent leads. Offer to come by and give a free talk or demonstration. Christmas time/holidays are perfect for this. Coaches: All the school sports need a knowledgeable "advisor". Imagine the impact you could have on some of our local teams? Don't forget, once you got the kids, get Mom and Dad involved too Recruiters: Military always have people attempting to enlist who may have weight issues. Get some flyers out to all the local recruiters, Military Entrance Processing Station, etc. Perhaps a discount to military people working here in the area, ot those home on leave (Got to keep in shape over the holidays...BOOYA!) There are so many more. Just make sure that once you have one person, start to network. If you get Mr. Studly, invite his cutie girlfriend at a discount. Perhaps they'll bring some friends or relatives. How about a booth/table at some of our local stuff? YOU are VERY marketable yourself. Not everyone who who competes has a trainer. The city of Cleveland offers so many things. See if you can get a hold of a schedule for local events. Health fairs, etc., Hospitals/Doctors ~ The bariatric community does a lot of networking. Most surgeons require major attempts at weight loss before and after surgery. Imagine all the clientele you can draw from that!?! See if you can be part of THIER TEAM, to talk with people and get them to the gym to work out. In my job, I see a LOT of insurance companies who are offering gym memberships with thier health insurance. Try to persue some of the local agents, and see how far you can get. Continue the networking always. Like I said, I used to be a stockbroker. I cold called a guy once, and on a whim I mentioned a few things about some fraternal organizations. He just happend to belong to one I did. Within 2 weeks he bought 2 blocks (10,000 shares each) of a specific stock from me. My commission on each was about 5k. After that I also sold, his plant manager, operations manager, CPA, daughter and two sons. It was a very lucrative month ;D Oh well, just my off the wall ramblings. Hope some of that is helpful Frank

Mo and Frank are dead on with their posts and offer solid advice.
Vince, does your business have a web site? Everything is internet oriented these days. If not, have one constructed with all your pertinent information (location, biographical background, what you have to offer, testimonials from satisfied clients) and post it here and everywhere.
You did a fantastic DVD and maybe that can be used in your promotion. Good luck, and hope Anello Body Fitness becomes the showplace gym in your area.

Definitely look into peer to peer/person to person. Hold an open house and send invites to several area HR or health groups, etc. Build buzz.
How's your location? High traffic? What's the usual crowd in teh neighborhood like?
Consider those issues because they can affect who you try to attract. For example, a number of gyms are on the "wrong side of the tracks" because that's where the warehouse or lower rent space is... and that's not the sort of address that might interest female office workers 25-45 for example. Also true gyms with lots of big guys, pros, primarily cater to that crowd, not the general fitness crowd. That's a small niche in fitness and print ads and TV are often a large expense for a small target audience.
Another tactic, look to area colleges and their marketing and pr degree areas; you may be able to take advantage of an internship or training program to get you some pro-bono marketing thinking, creative and legwork.
