I hurt my lower back last Wed....................never been this bad before.
I can barely even walk and I had a sneezing attack this morning and I thought I was gonna` shatter like a pane of glass!
If my training journal looks wimpier than usual from now on,know I`m not slacking off just working around my back injury.
This is really depressing as I have been making good steady gains.........looks like the 10 x10 squat sessions are gone for now.

I know back injuries of late! It got to a point where almost everything I did hurt my back. I twisted my routine around to do anything by Hack Squats, then those started to hurt my back. My work, lots of twisting and turning while picking up 25lb packs of ice cream or numerous packs at once. I started to post my journal again after some time off, but then Thanksgiving week hit, and my work was so exhausting I had to take more time off from the gym- which I figured it's beneficial as it's the longest break (4.5 weeks now I think) I've had in about four years. BUT- my back feels like it did when I was 15. In other words, no pain, and 100% recovered. It sucked when I felt inhibited about everything I did- gym or in life. I'm almost scared to even attempt to squat or any leg work when I go back to the gym this week. Hang in there Tim, you may not want to hear it, or do it for that matter, but probably the best thing for you is to not do anything in the gym. Brutal advice, and even harder to do (not do?), but probably the best for you as well.

Tim,
Did you see an MD yet? Back injuries at our age are nothing to toy with. Muscle strain? pinched nerve? displaced vertebrae? Too many thing to self diagnose.
I know, I know. You'll work through it and it will be ok, right? I would rather you knew for sure, rather than I tell you, "I told you so". Just being real because I know how WE are!
Get checked out Bro. At least you know for sure what you're dealing with and how to plan your attack.
Upside? At least it happened in the off season so you can rest for the holidays.

I have had my share of back issues too and it is NOT fun! Alternate between ice and heat, take alot of Ibuprofen 4-200mg for prescritption strength. Rest up and hopefully within the week it will feel better.

Really sorry to see this, Tim. Hope you have had medical attention by now. Back injuries can be very serious.
Know what you went through about the sneezing. I had a lower back spasm several years ago, and also came down with a cold. Sneezing and coughing were painful.
Hope you can heal and feel better soon, buddy.

Injuries are so difficult to accept; Your mind is into it, but your body is not which is very frustrating!
What happened Tim, did you do something wrong when squating or did you only feel the pain a couple of hours after the workout?
Go very light for a while Tim, you'll be be back 100% before you know it and by paying attention to it now, it wont stop you from being at your very best next year!

Thanks everrybody,I trul;y appreciate all the good advice and well wishes. Mo,I did rack deadlifts last Wed. and hadn`t gone that heavy in a while.......................first rep was slow and I got 4 more with as little rebound as possible, next day I could barely get out of bed. Took off the rest of the week which is very rare for me.....I have to be almost dying to miss a scheduled workout and I actually thought I might!! Feels a bit better today.......actually walking much better..........did legs but stayed light and also did reverse hypers which really helped out in re-habbing my back the last time this happened to me. No doctor visit yet but if it persist or gets worse,I`m there with the quickness. Thanks again for the good vines!
