From Ironage....... Rory Leidlmeyer
"Rory's training was high volume and VERY heavy. He believed in handling ultra heavy weights on shaping movements. I think he was up to something like 120 pound dumbbells on "slightly cheated" side laterals at one time with other movements being similar. He also treated each section of a muscle like an entire body part and gave it 8 to 12 sets per section. For instance side delts would get two to three exercises for 4 sets each. Likewise rear delts 8-12 sets, top of forearm 8-12 sets, bottom of forearm 8-12 sets, hamstrings 8-12 sets, seated calf raises 8-12 sets, standing calf raises (different day) 8-12 sets, upper chest 8-12 sets, lower chest and flat 8-12 sets, one day wide ballet stance on squats and leg presses 8-12 sets, one day narrow stance quads on squats and leg presses 8-12 sets.
Training splits and exercises changed every month and he used some very unique movements (like Rory rotations for triceps) and took many from Bill Pearls "Keys to the inner Universe".
Generally 4 days on one day off. Here is an example.
Day 1- Chest, front and side delts, calves
Day 2 - Back, rear delt and traps, abs
Day 3 - Biceps, triceps, Calves
Day 4 - Quads, hamstrings, abs
Remember though this would also change every month so this is just one example of a Rory split.
He also made use of 100 reps at times which works really well on stubborn bodyparts. Do 100 reps over over 3 sets. You have to shoot for around 70 in the first set and then try to get the other 30 reps in the next two sets with little rest in between. Sounds easy? Right. Beware this will cause severe soreness. Done for about a month and sets you up for the next couple months of heavy training again.
I’m sure there is more that I’m not remembering but that’s the core as I remember. "
To me he represents what a bber should be ......Balanced ,shapely , well kept , and strong a hell .[ 605 lb bench for 2 , 780 dead lift , and 800 lb squat .......note one the best raw total ever right there my friends ......he also moved insane amounts of weight in shaping exercises as well .......the guy is just just crazy strong period ] He was like a powerful animal .........He personality is inspiring ......he is a man of principle and integrity ......He is a class act and as knowledgeable as they come .......I have only great things to say about Rory .......I am hoping to go sneak into the town where Rory lives lives and surprize him with a visit by the end of summer or mid sept and start back up with him he and I have a great rapport so I am really looking forward to getting together ............The picture at the top he said he weighed 237 and the pic next to Bob at the top he said he was 223 -224 and Bob was 214 -216........he said he was 6'1 and 3/4 which I don't see [ maybe with the hair ...lol] especially when you consider that he said bob was really only around 5'10 or so ............I honestly people that weider not only cost us Joe Meeko , Jeff King , perhaps Mendenhall, jeff williams [ and god knows how many others ] , but he also cost us the one man that could have matched well with Haney ..........Think about ....he had the width , waist /hips , round muscles , legs/ arms , to match well with haney ......His weakness where conditioning [ there are some interesting reasons for this which are just insane to me , but I will not mention unless I speak to Rory ] and maybe his back wasn't as thick as Haney 's [ but whose was or even is today minus Colman a few others ] ............But he could beaten in top shape just about any toher pro IMO ......sad that we never got to see him at his best ........by the way ,was not a big user of drugs , had a unique way of using them , and his methods made a lot of sense
