Wow! I started with Mike Davies in Columbus, but there have been so many since then, I couldn't count!
I think once you start, it's a continuous learning cycle. Once you stop learning.............you die!

When I was a Teen in High School I used to go to the beach and one Gentleman Jim Muzila was a Bodybuilder. He used to sit and talk with all The Good Looking Ladies. He had at least 6 Hot Ladies on his blanket.I started Bodybuilding so I too could attract the Girls Like Jim.I did not have Jims Looks so I went into Powerlifting.A year or so ago I was walking Betsy on The Beach and someone called my name.It was Jim!!! There he was sitting with three attractive, more mature but still Great looking ladies!!! Things Dont Change!!!! Thanks Jim for The Inspiration!!!

A priest by the Name of Father Mauro, who passed away about 2-3 years ago.
But the guy who really helped me and taught me how to diet properly and brought me in looking the best I ever have was

Magazines through the years gave me a base knowledge of lifting. Bodybuilding it was a good friend of mine, Drew, and then from this board- Randy.

Same here, self taught. Years of trial and error. When I started there really wasn't anyone around to learn from. I gleaned though the magazines. Mike Mentzer was a heavy influence in my early years.

Self taught as well. That's why I've failed at everything! LOL I've learned through trial and error and am still learning daily. I went to college for Exercise Science and that still hasn't convinced me of everything. There are so many factors to consider and the advances in nutrition and supplementation can make a big difference in the end.

Oh wow! What a question. As a middle school/high school student I read a few mags. Nothing big. After high school I was sick of the pudge I had and wanted to get stronger/faster for baseball so I started researching the hell out sports specific training and diet as well as keto diets. I started off that way. Through college I read EVERYTHING I could get my hands on. I took biomechanics, ex phys, kineis, motor learning, A&P I & II, etc... I was confused by what the mags were telling me and what my education told me.
I started researching more and found a few web forums. The internet and forums were relatively new to me at this time (2002/2003). I found Eric Broser and Tim Wescott and met a man named Troy Johnson. Troy and I hit it off and are very good friends to this day. Tim kind of took me under his wing around 2003 and taught me the ins/outs of dieting training "bodybuilder" style. Through Troy and the boards I got to know Eric and have since become good friends with him. Luckily I've made connections with so many people. It's been a very eclectic group of people and resources that have taught me, as well as me learning my body. In summation, the poeple that have helped me the most are:
Eric Broser Troy Johnson Tim Wescott Keith (Masterchamp) Gerry (thanks for the posing tips) Greg Wilson Author L Rea
There are many MANY more, but without these guys I would not be where I am today!
