Don't you hate the idiots? For example, there's this one guy at my gym who: - ALWAYS leaves the weights on the bar when he's done a set.
- hogs EVERY machine while he's training, and not once has he ever let anyone work in.
- Belches loudly without ever saying excuse me.
- Blasts whatever music he feels like listening to - and not on his earphones either. Over the gym speakers!
- Sweats all over everything and never wipes anything until he's done his whole workout.
What should I do with this a-hole?

Tell him that you've had a few other members complain about him; takes pressure off you and makes it look like you are just trying to pass on a few complaints from others-not you. If he asks who the other members are, you tell him they wish to remain anonymous. You could give him a verbal warning and tell him that it's many different people that have complained and if others complain you may have to do more than just verbally warn him. And one other thing, no matter what, DOCUMENT it all. On this date, he did this; and this date he did that....etc....so if things were to get out of hand and you booted him and there were an attempt with lawyers for financial compensation or whatever, you have plenty of evidence what you did was ethical in the name of better business to your customers.

Wait- he uses the gym speakers? How does that work? Does he work there?
Have you asked him to rack his weights? What's the gym's policy on that?

LOL. Yeah. I was just being an idiot. I train alone at home.
Great advice from YB though. But really - if you own a gym can't you just boot whoever you want without reason? Serious question.

I'd imagine so- "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone" etc. obviously provided it is not an act of discrimination. If my gym would give me the power of the ban stick I'd happily toss putz' who don't rack their weights... so next time I'm in YOUR gym watch out! LOL

Rich I was not trying make a joke of your comment My Friend!!! I can see how that would be a problem!!! I have become agitated also when that happened.I train at my own faclility now.
The Gyms I went to were owned by Powerlifters and The Rules were strictly enforced!!!In my Gym however,I load and unload the weights, clean the equippment after each, and pick the music. The only individual I have ever had a problem belching and passing gas is Betsy. She always picks the time when I am going through relaxation and vizulization exercises with the client!!
I can see how it could be a problem in the Public Gyms .When I first started training at a real Hard Core Gym Vince Gym in Cleveland. You Unloaded the Bar!!!,You Cleaned up Your Sweat!!! Vince L Picked The Music and Volume!!!Did sometimes have a problem with Lifters passing gas however!! LOL If you did not unload the weights or made a Mess ,Vince would stroll over to you and just Stare!!!You knew you had better clean up or Die!!!!LOL

#1 When I'm in the gym, I have a kinds of "co*ky" attitude. My time, my workout, my gym. Just my mind set once I'm into my workout. I'll share, if you play nice! First time = I suggest nicely to re-rack, clean up, etc. Second Time = I tell you to do it. Third Time = We'll let's just say I handle it the Siscilian way! So fuggetaboutit!

Definitely Rich, if you own the gym make sure the rules has been posted. For some it is just common sense, for others, well guess the got none. Due to the weather here there are signs posted to remove outdoor shoes in the entrance way and anyone caught wearing streets shoes gets kicked out, a bunch of kids got kick out today and were told not to come back unless they had an extra pair of shoes. Access to our gym in controlled by code and finger print scan, you each have to swipe in even if you arrive in a group. A couple came in as I was leaving and she didn't bother scanning her print as he boyfriend already had the door open, the manager made he go back and do it. I know the machines don't get wiped down by everyone like they should so I bring a towel to cover the benches/seats, mats and still spay and wipe when I'm done. It's just plan rude and laziness, the signs are there, the signs are everywhere, I just don't get how some people think they are better than others and rules just don't apply to tthem? Make sure the signs are up, check you contracts and keep notes, if you have video, that i even better. If after a few reminders of the gyms rules not make a difference, get rid of him.

On an up-note...............
In my previous gym: I was walking on the treadmill one morning, and a young lady was working in the Leg Press machine.
She got done with her set, put on her coat and walked out.
I kept thinking, "that was really bad. Didn't wipe off the machine, didn't take off the plates, nothing!"
About 10 minutes later she came back in. She looked at me and said, "Oh my gosh, I got half way home, and was so preoccupied about where I had to go after the gym I just wasn't thinking."
She went back to the machine, removed the plates, and wiped it down.
"One" for the good guys!

That drives my wife crazy Mo!
I think it would be a great job for someone with OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). They could go around the gym and re-organize the plates on the racks all day. That's not a slight to people with OCD. Accomplishing that type of task actually would give them a great sense of accomplishment.

Vince... Actually she was a nurse who would come in VERY early (3:00 am ish) because she was quite overweight, and was a little embarrassed to be in the gym with other people during peak hours. I say "Good for Her" for making the move to get to the gym! ...and to answer your question.... She had potential!
