It's part of the discipline of our sport. It's what makes us unique. Our training is our lifestyle. Keep focused on the prize and stop wearing your suffering on your lapels. Suck it up. You are a bodybuilder and this is all about your body. I have been through what you are going through 26 times and I am 13 weeks out from my 27th show. And I love every friken minute of my training because I am preparing myself to come in the best ever. I train to come in the best ever every time. It's what I do. I don't get cranky because I am involved 100% in my training and diet. Keeping yourself in control is part of our sport. Finally, if you want your family's support, don't screw it up by being a jerk. It's your thing, not theirs.

Happens to me too.....big time! ESPECIALLY toward the end! The green guy in the pic to your left is normally me on a "good" day, when prepping for contest! Advice? Sorry Bro...I agree with Carl. Comes with the territory. Those of us "in the iron business" understand. Everybody else? Well....easy come, easy go!
Know you're not alone. Stay away from glass, guns, knives, and of course warn the loved ones! ;D
I think everyone deals with it differntely.

LOL, thanks for the advice Mr Beefy!!!! You know I go through this diet every darn year, and this year seems to be more trying than the most recent one's. I guess good old father time is finally catching up with me, lol, Vin.

I agree it comes with the territory and you just have to learn not to take it out on others as you made the choice to compete. Stay focused and keep motivated and tell yourself you can do it.
Are you allowed diet pop on your diet? I know I sure enjoy mine when I diet and it helps me sometimes to get through the day.

That seems to be the only thing that gets me through some of the days. Between the fact that it fills me up and the caffeine keeps me "awake" and on the ball, I don't know what I'd do without it!!!!!!!! Also, just to set the record straight, I don't compete any more, but since I own my own gym I take it upon myself to try and get into competion shape just the same to set a good example for all my members, Vin.

I won't compete either, I don't think. I just like to be in good shape... for my husband mostly. I am dieting now for a photoshoot in 3 weeks.... but I don't think I could get lean enough for a show. Who knows? Maybe I will try again someday.
Anyway good luck , you should post progress pics to help keep you motivated. ;D

As far as posting some progress pics, I think that the only motivation that they would do would be to motivate people NOT to look like me!!!!! lol. I really miscalculated the diet this year and have been kicking myself for it the last two weeks, :-[Vin.

On a serious note. It takes a little bit to get used to dieting. I think when your bod makes the switch its not so bad. Maybe your cals are too low of the bat... ... Maybe the macro's could be adjusted??...??.... Some thoughts.

Maybe the macro's could be adjusted??...??.... Some thoughts. I actually liked the pizza suggestion the best, lol. The cals are fairly low from the jump, I must admit that, but I'm working on a fairly tight timetable this year, so I can't really afford to fool around too much at the start. I need to drop 20 pounds over 20 weeks(22 at the max, I always give myself a little margin at the end) so while you can see it's not a drastic diet, it is still a very tight schedule to stick to. If I'm not feeling hungry during at least some part of the day I know I'm doing something wrong, lol. As for the Macro's, I do slash the carbs way down, but the caffeine from the Diet Coke and coffee I drink makes sure I don't have any real energy "issues" during the day. I was thinking of taking a bottle of egg whites to the gym (nine per bottle) and drinking that around 9 p.m. That would fill my stomach up with something other than Diet Coke, (it's that empty gut feeling that's got me so "ornry") lol, and the extra protein never hurts during a diet either, Vin.

I'd like to give you some tips Vin, but I've been Grumpy all week myself because of that crazy diet :-)
Seriously, I think that the best idea is not to reduce the calories to fast. And if you are still cranky sometimes, just make sure you isolate yourself when it happens :-) usually it doesnt last very long dont you agree?

I don't have a medical background (my disclaimer ) but I would also think that if you found something, edible, physical, mental, etc., that would satiate your taste, anxiety, etc. that it could at least make it tolerable (choosing the lesser of two evils). I had my FIRST realization of this "phenomenon" awhile back. It was AFTER a contest, and I was back on a NORMAL diet. I overheard my wife talking to my daughter on the phone one day saying, "Yea, it;s ok to come over this weekend. Dad's back on a normal diet so he's not acting like such an azz anymore. He's actually tolerable!" So....do what you need to do to keep sane during this period of time. Know your not alone, and know that it gets better.

Thanks Masterschamp, Intensity, and MrBeefy for those last comments. As long as I've been doing this I should have realized from the git-go that it's all about "biting the bullet" and keeping my "eyes on the prize." In the end that's about all that I can do because failure is NOT an option!!!!!!!!!!! As I mentioned in an earlier post, I think that this year it's Father Time that's making it so difficult, but I'm not going to let even him stand in my way either, lol, Vin.
