Dateline: Iron House Classic April 12th, 2008
Frank's Results:
Masters Division / 181 lbs / RAW / PRO =
[glow=red,2,300]FIRST PLACE ! ! ! ! ![/glow] ;D
and . . . just for a little icing on the cake.....
Since there were no current records set for my class in the IPA...
all 3 of my lifts are now on the books as:
[glow=red,2,300]WORLD RECORDS ! ! ! ! ! ;D[/glow] (for the IPA)
The meet director said it takes about 2-3 weeks to get the official certificates in.
The entire experience was great!
Weighed in Friday morning at 175.5 lbs.
Then ate like crazy all day long, slept, ate some more, slept, etc.
Got up Saturday morning. Greg got there around 8:30 a.m.
He stayed at my side ALL DAY LONG.
The meet started late, mostly due to finalizing equipment set up.
Was a VERY long day. Handed out awards around 9:00 p.m.
I hit my total I wanted: 1, 000 pounds
300 squat
260 bench
440 deadlift
Probably could have gone a bit heavier but Greg insisted it was my first meet and to have fun.
My bench is still my weakest lift. Tend to stall on my chest before the press command. Also need to pop out of my squat faster.
The competition was crazy.
114 pound girl deadlfitng 550 pounds!
Top girl (probably about 148 pounds) deadlifted 760. All her lifts were comprabable.
63 year old man opening squat was 640 pounds!
Met a LOT of great people, to include Louie Simmons of Westside Barbell fame. He was one of my judges too!
Relaxed in the jacuzzi this morning, then a leisurley ride home.
Tomorrow morning I go for an hour and a half massage ;D
So ladies and gentleman . . .this is it . . I am now officially a card carrying POWERLIFTER! ;D
I now see what Vince and 1400 see in all this!
I teased Greg when he got there and showed him my registration card that said Professional Powerlifter, and asked him if I was a powerlifter now, He said not until I finish the meet!
So it is a great start. First Place and 3 World Records!
Now...rest, recover and back to work!
Time to get Greg ready for Masters in Florida at the end of May, then Bernie for Raw Nationals at the and of July. By that time, I'll be ready to ROCK again!
I really want to thank ALL of you for your words of encouragment. It meant a lot to me. A special thanks to Karrie for her text messages and keeping tabs on me!
I also want to thank Greg Page, my trainer. Without him I would have never gotten this far or saw the joy in powerlifitng.
Lastly I want to thank my wife Bernie. For putting up with my bullsh*t. Carrying my bags, encouraging me when I didn't want to hear it. She was VERY supportive all weekend and though all of this prep. Between her and Greg, I couldn't have asked for a better trainer and handler. I love you guys!
SO....TIM....I guess you can change the caption under my name from bodybuilder to [glow=red,2,300]IPA WORLD RECORD POWERLIFTER [/glow]now!
If anyone wants to come over and join us on the dark side....we're here to help you find your path!
AND...to the rest of the world ............
DA BEAST HAS ARRIVED!!!!!!! ;D
Azz in the grass. The crowd cheered and couldn't believe my depth.
Sorry about the face wash out. The lights were blazing!
Waiting for the PRESS command.
LIGHTWEIGHT BABY!
The birth of another proud powerlifter!
