As all know I've been dieting now for what seems like ages. An yes i am kicking myself in the ASS for not starting even ealier than when i did. So instead of being in the show next weekend i am test judging it. Anyway its been an up and down roler coaster ride. I look in the mirror when i wake up and think great i look good then i get on the scale and want to throw that damn square little box out my window. Back to the mirror thing, I look in the morning and think i am looking good and on track. Then i look again 8 or so hours later and i look like a FAT ASS to me. So then i want to throw that F'ing thing out the winder also. I feel like i have been fighting with my body the last few weeks on top of that. When i told my wife how much i weighed she didnt believe it either for how i look. But now its got me second guessing myself and wanting to change things instead of just staying on course. It like a total mind Fvck going on with my diet. I tell myself that i need to change things or i wont make the 17th show. Then i tell myslf dont change anything cause its to late just run with it and see what happens. By the time the possible show on the 17th roles in i will have been dieting for 22+ months. So can anyone say mind fvck..... By NO MEANS AM I GIVING UP! I will rach my goal come hell or high water and be on the damn stage real soon...I dont know why my body wants to mind fvck me but i will NOT be beaten, I WILL WIN THEN DAMN WAR WITH MY BODY AND ITS DIET!!!

I completely understand Hoops. Most of my clients go through the same battle day in day out and I tell them the same thing-ditch the scales! Its not about how much you weigh or what your bodyfat is,its about how you look It sounds like you are getting some fluid retention throughout the day? This would account for the change in appearance from morning to night so you may be right in needing to tweak your diet for the second half of the day. Hang in there-I felt fat for the entire of my last competition diet and the mirror just made it worse-do not even mention the dratted Tantia machine,I felt like a total whale and all you guys know I'm not exactly fat #arollseyes3zc# We're all here for ya so vent away!

Hoops! Stay on course. Do not change gears at this point in the game. That's a beginners mistake.
Also, 22 months is a LONG time to be dieting, even if you had a few cheats here and there. Carb depletion, insulin manipulation, etc., can all being having it's affects on you, physically and mentally.
You know it will come together in the last 10 days or so.
Keep on it.
You WILL BRING IT!!!!

Stick top your guns HOOPS... Its hard to see the light. I completely understand. This is also a great lesson. One that I have learned for the LAST time. We need to stay leaner in the off season so that this is never an issue again. You will ens up there at some point. I guess its all about patience and not giving in/up..
PM me if you like. I know you like to diet similar to me.

Unless you are trying to make a weight class, get rid of the scale. Sounds like you are retaining a lot of water through out the day. Go by what you look like in the morning and that is it.

Great advice all around, Hoop. This sport is so much mental, and I know that the scale is the enemy. Always preached to anyone I've worked with to go by the mirror.
You will get there, brother. Be patient and persevere.

Beckie, Frank, Rubes, Eric, Gerry Thanks for the encouragement and advice. I'm not going to change anything. Just keep on doing what i'm doing but damn it can be frustrating. For example the mirror and my close tell me that i'm leaner but the scale says i gained 5 pounds. Tell me that doesnt fvck with your mind. Frist thing that comes to my mind is i'm failing instead of gaining muscle.
Then i want to start second guessing. Need to get rid of that damn scale...

Did you think it could be lean mass? That would explain the scale and clothes!
Throw out the scale!

I'm sad to know that you're not totally happy with what you see Steve!
And although I agree that we shouldn't always take the scale into consideration, I'm gonna play Devil's advocate here. I mean, for a short period, I agree that we need not to worry too much about what the scale says! Because, for example, it's definitively possible to look better and leaner even if we are heavier: More intracellular water retention combined with a little bit of muscle mass gain.
That being said, for a long diet and/or for more than 2-3 lbs, I would say that we need to pay more attention to the numbers on the scale because I don't believe in gaining muscle mass all the way down to you contest condition. Excepted, maybe, if you are dieting for the first time! So for 2-3lbs or for a short diet, I would not mind, but for something like 8-12lbs and/or for a long diet, I would take the infos on the scale into consideration. So make sure you stay intense (workouts and diet) and try some little changes: More carbs combined with a split workout for example or new kind of cardio or new intensification technics or new nutrition timing…
You'll succeed Steve!!!! If you have any question, just ask, we'll be please to help you if we can.
