Back when I was 18 I used to do 315 for 6-8 reps, now I have arthrities of the right knee and find it very difficult to squat. What is the best way to work around this? My right leg is alot weaker than my left. I tried physical therapy but it seemed like bs.

I am assuming you are using glucosamine and chondroitin...if not start taking lots od it and front load it heavy. It takes awhile to kick in but does wonders for joints and cartilage. My other suggestion is pre and post workout to rub an icy hot cream on the area and wear a wrap around it to keep it warm. also warm it up with light weight before going heavy, if it is inflamed ice the crap out of it. Good luck...injuries suck but are part of the gym game..you could use anti inflammatories also like small amounts of advil or a natuaral one is bromelain which is good when used 2 or 3 times a day it helps my bad shoulder.

i have had two major surgeries and the best thing i have seen is to avoid the squats. i use alot of variations of leg press and one leg stuff. Leg extensions are also vary taxing on the joint. there is always a better choice, so listen to your body and be safe. Aaron
