Thats it..i have to know.
Do you guys weight your chicken before you cook..or after you cook? When you guys say 8oz steak..do you guys eat it 8oz cooked...?? or 8oz weight uncooked ...which generally becomes 6oz after cooked.
Which is it....8oz cooked measurement....or 8oz uncooked...
i'm so confused..lol ;D

uncooked,
your meat weight will vary dramatically as you cook it and lose fat/water weight.

hardcore is right, uncooked weight for meat. the only thing i measure cooked is rice since i pre-cook it and eat it later. i eat a cup to 1 1/2 cups cooked.

rice ..i measured...1/4cup dry = 3/4 cup cooked.
So you get the idea...
but about how much chicken or steak would i be eating if i weight 8oz cooked. 10oz raw?

it depends on how much fat is on the meat prior to cooking. every piece is slightly different.

I agree with HARDCORE and Jaxon, always weigh it raw.
You`ll lose water and fat weight but the protein content stays the same!
As far as restauraunts go just ask!

but didn' you say 6g of protein per oz. So lose the fat + water in the meat.....and wouldn't that be the pure meat in oz?

Max, although the weight and size of the portion changes, the protein content does not.

You can expect that restaurant claims will be before cooking.

Its funny cause this guy ordered a 8oz steak..and he got a 4oz size steak. It looked like a burger patty. I think he was expecting more.....cause he looked like santa clause. he did have baked potato and chicken gumbo soup though....man cowbow food....
