the only real things i eat these days come mainly from land. Beef, Chicken, Eggs, Veggies, .....only Salmon..and now occasionally canned tuna comes from the waters.
i want to increase my variety in seafood..but mainly for OMEGA 3.
I hear Eels have a good amount of Omega 3..but what are your thoughts about eating eels? I love eels..used to eat them alot...at sushi bar..DRAGON ROLL. I read that they are high in cholesterol...and the fat content seems to favor Monousaturated...which i believe is OMEGA 6 right?
What kind of salmon is best? I'm sure the best usually comes from California or Alaska..their Pacific Salmon is Wild. King Salmon, chum , coho, pink , or sockeye..?? what do you guys think?
what are your thoughts on other good seafood to eat...mainly fish..but shelled fish is fine too..
Plz discuss your thoughts..i want to increase my seafood intake..i love sea food.!!

I was thinking...is it safe to eat the bones and the skin of Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon...??

I've done some studying on Salmon that people eat. There are 6 species of salmon, 5 from the pacific, 1 from the Atlantic.
Chum, Pink (humpy), Chinook (king), Coho (silver)and Sockeye (red) are from the Pacific.
Atlantic salmon are of course from the Atlantic. Although there are some sort of over fishing of these Wild Species that Farmed Species are sold instead at Markets. Farmed Species should be avoided for health hazards.
Stick with the Pacific Wild Salmon. This is a list of FAT Content from greatest to least.
Chinook>Sockeye>Atlantic>Chum>Coho>Pink
As you can see ....Chinook is the fattiest of all...and Pink being the leaness of the salmon. But...Chinook being the fattiest doesn't mean its the best choice.
1/2 fillet chinook - 20g of fat, 4g saturated, 4g poly, 8g monosaturated
1/2 fillet sockeye- 16g of fat, 3g saturated, 4g poly,8g monosaturated
1/2 fillet atlantic- 13g of fat, 2g saturated, 5g poly, 4g mono.
1/2 fillet chum- 7g of fat, 2g saturated, 2g poly, 3g mono
1/2 fillet coho- 6g of fat, 1g saturated, 1g poly, 3g mono.
1/2fillet pink - 5g fat, 1g saturated, 2g poly, 1g mono.
Overall....Atlantic salmon has the best Omega fats. Since Atlantic has all these health concerns...i rate PINK Pacific salmon the Best Salmon Choice of them all...for Omega 3 content and saturated fat ratio.
