Brandon,I think whey protein is good at post-workout,and also if you are not a big eater in the AM it can be used to get in some quick digesting protein after a night of sleep when the body has been deprived for 8 hours.
I also used to like milk& egg protein powder.
Others: Creatine(I sometimes take it) Vitamin C-Great for many things especially recouperation from training and to ward off free-radicals. Vitamin E B-Complex A good Multi-Vitamin Branch Chain Amino Acids Chelated Minerals Glutamine(I`m a little iffy on this one but it did seem to help me) Dessicated Liver-seemed to help me years ago Brewers Yeast Powder-Great sourcs of B-Vitamins for growth
I`m not big on suups as a rule but at the barest minimum I would take Vits C & E,whey, creatine, and dextrose post workout.
FOOD IS THE BEST SUPPLEMENT THERE IS IN TOWN!!!

Dc747 and Tim, great thread. When I first got semi-started back in January to get myself back into shape, read some BB's and noticed a web site from a company/warehouse called Dps nutrition. I will put their web address but not an actual link below(Still learning the rules about that and since this is Tim's website and I was taught as a child when you are a guest in somebody's house you don't go in rearranging the furniture). www.DpsNutrition.com Seems they have have good prices on supplements. They advertise 5 lbs of whey protein by Ultimate Nutrition for $19.99 plus a flat rate of $4.95 for shipping and handling. I ordered a 5lb carton of whey and received it by UPS in two days, although for full disclosure I live reletively close to their warehouse in PA. It may take longer if a person lives on the west coast, and the shipping and handling fee will probably be more the farther a person lives away from the east coast and they also have a table explaining UPS shipping pricing procedures.

If you do not sleep in total darkness the pineal gland will not produce/release melatonin. Melatonin is a great free radical scavenger Its cheap and you can just take a 3mg tab at night <when the pineal would be naturally releasing it>
chrysin is a great suppliment which will help you keep free testosterone <chrysin helps prevent testosterone from converting to estrogen >
