Okay guys, I'm SICK of having 10 egg whites and 1/2 cup oatmeal in the morning. It's so difficult to stomach 10 egg whites scrambled w/ low carb kethup. Is there anything else I can have to substitute? I'll keep the oatmeal, it doesn't taste bad, and it's good for my heart arteries, considering I like rich foods sometimes.

Jay,that is a bit*h eating the same monotonous things over and over. If you are not doing a show,and you are achieving your goals ,I see no reason to deviate from that strict pattern at times. I would just opt for some whole eggs cooked in various ways. You`d be amazed how a simple over easy egg can taste so good after eating 10-12 egg whites daily for 16 weeks or more.Then again....maybe you wouldn`t be as I know you`re a pretty strict dieter!! Omelettes are also good . An occasional "cheat" meal is OK if you are training and eating consistantly on a normal basis. Hell,have some french Toast with some hash browns here and there. ;D

I put the egg whites in the blender and add an ounce of oats and blend for three minutes. Add a packet or two of equal. Makes a batter for pancakes. They DO NOT taste like eggs.
If you're contest dieting, here's what I do: I make a "syrop" from some warm water, several packets of equa/sugar twin (whatever) and add a drop or two vanilla and/or maple and some brown sugar twin. Doesn't matter too much that it's not thick, it just moistens the pancakes and tastes not too bad.
Offseason, I put two cups hot water in a pot, add 1.5 to 2 cups Splenda (I'm not allowed Splenda on-diet), good splash of vanilla extract and a good splash of maple. I add brown sugar twin and, if I have it, some sugar-free caramel flavoring (coffee syrup). Boil it, then add two tblspns cornstarch to a cup, dribble just enough water in it to mix without lumps, then pour this in the pot. Whisk it up really good and viola, makeshift syrup for offseason.
Other times I just sprinkle a packet or two of equal right on each pancake, roll it up and eat it.
I just fill the "face" of the frying pan (actually, two pans at a time) to save time... big-ass pancakes.
My wife and I eat them year-round and never tire of them as there are so many things you can (especially offseason like fruit or yogurt...).

I've read some scary things about equal(aspartame) and avoid it. Plus it has a horrible aftertaste.

nobody say you need to have eggs for breakfast. I have no problem with eggs. You can have STEAK for breakfast if you want. I've seen people order steak and eggs....!!!
Hey about that pancake.....i've always wanted to try it but am afraid to...seeing if i mess up..i'll have to break more eggs..and thats a waste of time.... Can i mix it without the blender? i was planning on using 5 eggwhites and 1/4 cup of oats.....for 1 pancake. I am going to make 2. will that work?? So i stir in oats and whisk eggs together...then fry them like regular eggwhites?

Tim,
Basically I'm maintaining bodyfat level now. I could probably go lower if i was super strict, but lots of events comingup that may make it difficult.
I already throw in a yolk or two, because just having the egg whites can be pretty nasty, and it doesn't cook as well.
How exactly do you make an "over easy" egg? Basically like a scrambled but just dont chop it up?

I LOVE pancakes, so this might be up my alley. I will give that a try. If I can have those egg pancakes all while getting my protein and tasting good, I will actually look forward to waking up in the mornings!

over easy eggs are like sunny side up ...just crack the egg onto the fry pan. And after a minute ...flip the sunny side egg over so you cook the yolk...then serve.

You can also just buy sugar-free maple syrup for the pancakes but check out what they use for a sweetener as you may not want it.

that davinci brand syrup..has all their flavors both in original and Sugar free version of it!! They even have Banana!!! Almond!!! Marshmallow!! Pancake syrup!! Chocolate!! French Vanilla!!
But to tell you the truth i avoid syrups all together...stick with spices instead....my curry eggs is good!!
You got to learn to like the things you eat..lucky for me..i love eggs!!! Oatmeal..i love eating plain...but if Cinnamon has health benefits ..i'll add it..even though i prefer plain!! hehe. If i want some bananas on the bodybuilding pancake or oatmeal..i add real banana.!!!
Actually you can try using the peanut satay sauce on your pancake !! melt peanut butter with hot water....and spread...its good on a bulk! Try Almond Butter too..

Get a medium hot pan, crack an egg, let it fry till the whites are very white and cooked then, here is the tricky part, put the spatula under the egg and flip over gently, hopefully the yolk won't break. Cook for another 20-30 seconds and if you have a non-stick pan slide the egg on to a plate.

Omelets are the best ...alot more cleaner than overeasy or scrambled. When ever i try scramble...some of it get stuck to the pan!!...and when my mom does her egg over easy..the pan is stuck with some yolk.... Omelet is the cleaness way!! EGG FOO YUNG baby.

I dont see how you can make pancakes with just egg whites and oats, but I will try it come Monday. I'll use low cal maple syrup,. a few carbs in the morning won't kill me, especially since I'm A.) working out right after that (45mins later), and B.) just trying to maintain BF.

Yes, that's why it says blend for three minutes, LOL. It smashes the flakes into tiny bits almost as small as flour... without it, you won't get a batter. I don't find any horrible aftertaste. As for scare tactics from silly people out there... whatever. They say the same sh*t about Splenda too, BTW. It's funny, people (in general) are killing themselves with McDonald's, etc... on this continent but damn if they'll touch that aspartame! We are a strange lot here in North America. Why no Splenda? We've found it causes our competitors to hold water. Likely due to the fact that it's made from sugar. Calories are NOT the only issue with sugar. I know many who compete and do use it but we don't. Again, only on competition diet do we cut out Splenda. We also cut out protein powders and all dairy, save one cup of skim for the first half of the diet. I eat a couple of table spoons of salsa on my eggs. I can't get them down other wise. I buy store bought salsa and 2 tbl = 10/calories, 0/fat, 2g/carbs, 2g/sugars, 240mg/sodium... I imagin the sodium would be the only kicker? I bet you could make a batch of homemade salsa with much less sodium. Angie

Thanks Troy for the information. You are correct about scare tactics. Found a website that debunks some of the rumors. Granted it is an industry related website, but does give the other side from the hype and scare tactics by some in the mainstream media with which the public is bombarded with. www.aspartame.net/media/default.aspThat said, I never liked aspartame(i.e Diet Coke) and stuck with the real thing(good old fashioned loaded with sugar Coke, alot of beer also). Quit those habits and drink water all day and a couple of cups of coffee in the morning. A couple of weeks ago had a new product by Coke called C2(half the carbs, yada, yada, yada) just to see what it tasted like. A 20 oz bottle had 30 grams of carbs(sugar) although to make it look like a lot less carbs they divided that 20 oz. bottle into 2 1/2 servings. Tasted like regular Coke, even with the advertised half the sugar. Still too sweet since I switiched to water. Thanks for your information and take care.

Curry powder on my egg omelet does it for me. Curry is my favorite flavor. Although when i have Killer omelets...i add scallions, crimini mushrooms, and green bell peppers....but thats not part of my morning omelet..

Angie, you're right on the money. I make no/low-sodium salsa, ketchup and bbq sauce (usually only on contest diet... I "do" the real thing offseason a bit as well). However, we just plain got sick of the scrambled approach and switched to the pancakes. We've never gone back. On occasion, I make omlettes with no-fat cheese but the pancakes just "do it" for us J65, along those lines, my wife and I were at a... fair over the weekend. Yeah, we were eating all kinds of crap . We met up with a friend of ours (another competitor, recently off-diet) who just got back from the States. She had a couple of new flavors of Juicy fruit for us to try. Well we were pleased and then she pointed out they weren't sugarless so we were all disappointed and were not going to accept them... LOL then we realized... what the hell is a couple piece of sugared gum going to do to us in comparison to the "deep fried icecream" and "caramel-dipped cheesecake on a stick" and "cashew-dipped fudge" that we just gobbled down. LOL we were pigs Remember, though, we hadn't touched sugar for about four months till about three weeks ago. Tim, my definition of a bad idea... whatever you do, don't go to ANY food-related place with another competitor just off diet... OMG, I'm still getting over a sugar hangover, LMAO!! There were three of us and all we did was plant ideas in each others' heads and it definitely got carried away... sort-of competition but in reverse
