I have currently tried 2 ways of cooking oatmeal. 1. adding water and oatmeal in a sause pan then boil. 2. boil water first then dump in oats. (quaker direction) number 2 way makes it seem less mushy and more oatmeal flaky. number 1 way...makes it look like congee or mush but very thick. Which way do you guys do it? It seems like i'm eating more oatmeal if i do it number 1 way.

I put the oats in a bowl and add boiling water then let them sit for 3 - 5 minutes (depending on the size of the oats). I don't like mushy oats, I like them firmer... more "meaty" that way. Then I'll add a bit of milk and Splenda and brown Sugar Twin and cinnamon.
Lately I've been eating puffed wheat instead. seems like you're eating a lot more. For me, thats 6 cups of puffed wheat over three ounces of oats (roughly the same as three protein scoops).
