I posted this topic on getbig.com.....and I will post it here since there are a bunch of you geniuses around here!
Hey all, I work at a health food store and one day this guys came in and he was pretty massive, he was telling me about the plataue he hit where he can't bench more then 430 pounds (which blew me away to hear he can do that!) we got the talking on stuff he avoids, and two of the main things he said to avoid is alcohol (which I do completley, I show up at parties with my gallon jug of water) and caffiene.....caffiene, he said kind of "robs" the energy that your body will use to build muscle tissue, from the jolt caffiene gives you, he told me he has avoided caffiene for a few years now.
is this true, cause I drink alot of caffiene, it helps pick me up cause I have major issues with depression...and that makes me sleepy all day...so I depend on caffiene alot. I am not addicted but I do drink about a large cup of coffee a day.
any input would be great

Brandon,I drink a lot of coffeee,too much probably, but I see no reason why it would hinder progress unless it killed the desire to eat.
Breaking down tissue,eating and getting proper rest, should work regardless of caffeine intake.......I think!!

I drink gallons of coffee and tea too, as do most competitors I know... comes with the territory. I have seen no evidence that it hinders. In fact I'd go so far as to say the opposite, it helps due to increased energy and lifting ability. But who knows...
