First you said you were "dieting" but you really didn't change anything about how you ate... now you're "bulking" and again you're not changing anything about how you eat. An average banana is roughly 100 calories, raw, ripe, freshly picked, or just plain green The transition of starch to fruit sugars increases the sugar content by only %20 (i.e. an unripe banana still contains %80 of the sugar it will when it's ripe). Also, the consumption of starches is not necessarily better than fructose -- especially according to the GI (which you seem to know well) -- for example, check out the GI of a potato (very starchy) T

;D like you said all that talk about gi isn't necessary true....I eat potatos and such..as Tim once said to me one time about how a food such as a potato is perfectly good source of carbohydrates....i don't really care about GI that much anymore...except when it comes to overall nutrition..ie. Whole Grains, nutritious vegetables, etc.

Yeah, I remember when I was first studying up on the GI. LOL, I ate a lot of potatoes (still do)... I was all fired up about the GI and the process, and knowledge and everything and then I came across potatoes and I right away knew something was not right about what was being said. I now just pay attention to it terms of processed foods and, basically, ignore the GI value of whole foods. That seems to hold pretty true but there are still exceptions. I like bananas... it's funny, they're like eggs... everybody likes them a little different. My fav is about halfway ripe (when the skin is black or even really spotty, I hate them). Lori, my wife, likes them just the way you do... green LOL. Troy

I don`t beleive the GI is all it`s cracked up to be. As long as you are eating clean carb sources, I`d rather pay attention to total carbs consumed per day, rather than the GI of certain carbs. I`m talking about bodybuilding foods only, not junk food carb sources. Remember, combining different foods will lower the GI of foods. I know plenty of my friends who compete and get ripped while eating high GI foods ,just as long as their overall total for the day is fairly low. Just more crap for the ininformed general public to spout off about, just like the sudden lo-carb craze/ Atkins, yet they still eat very unhealthy food choices. Just my opinions on it.

That is why Steak&Eggs with a baked potato with Butter in the center is the best combo for bodybuilders...
you can hit the gym here in vegas..and then go to the casino and get a plate of steak and eggs with potato for $1.99!!! Of course..that's only for late gym rats....you only get the late morning special at around 1 till 10am.
