i don't think so...but who knows...I say if you're at calorie defitcit ...you won't be building any new material onto your body (fat or muscle). You will however lose it..one or the other...and the best you can do is maintain lean mass. I haven't heard of anyone gaining muscle while losing fat.

losing muscle is a risk..but it doesn't mean you WOULD LOSE IT....with proper weight training..nutrition...you can maintain most of your mass....

You can. For a short time. It's all about putting the RIGHT stuff in your body at the right times, coupled w/ the right other things! For instance, a diet high in protein, moderate to hight in healthy fats and low in carbs or 0 carbs can lead to a great loss of fat and maybe an increase in muscle mass! I was losing fat and gaining strength and barely losing weight during my contest prep! I'd say oyou can do it up to 6 weeks, but you have to be STRAIGHT on, NO CHEATING whatsoever, no missing meals and everything has to be weighed out EXACTLY!, w/ no OVERTRAINING of course!
