I personnaly feel as strong in a low carb diet as in a high carb diet. Like Tim said, if you make sure that you stored enough glycogen... it shouldnt be a problem!
But when it come to pre-contest training (maybe there is another thread for that, but i will keep it shot) i'm a big fan of changing my workout every days! It a kind of random training (I plan each training on the day of that training) so i can push myself to the limit (until failure... and even past failure) without having to fallow numbers that i done in my off season training! (If i try to do the same than the off season i find it difficult mentaly... and i'm even more propice to injury)
So... i believe in low carb and high intensity.... but i always mix up my training for the 2 last month before the show!

Tim..i've been wondering..whey you say half a cup of rice in that sample diet..do you mean 1/2cup cooked?
Also...how come you say preworkout shake now....you used to only say..."throw in a pwo" ;D

It depends on how close I eat before training, as to whether I will have a pre-training shake, but if it`s really early, I do it as it`s hard for me to eat early in the AM.
My training time vary`s because of my schedule and my wifes schedule but I do attempt to train at approximately the same time every session as I think the body thrives on routine.
In Steve`s case, I think the shake will be beneficial as to increasing protein intake, and cutting other obvious calories, just for insurance purposes, so he holds into mass as he diets.

Yea...i can't seem to eat too much so close to workout. If i happened to workout first thing in the morning..i have a shake, a banana, and 1 cup of oatmeal...
