Hey bro's I just read an article published in Flex several years back, which Dorian Yates was quoted saying " he took in up to Seven, count 7 grams of Vitamin C daily."
I have researched this a bit and it seems beyond its ability to scavenge free radicals(antioxidant capabilaties) it can also be a potent cortisol diminisher.
Dorian suppossed thattaking in one gram upon waking and three before and after training would get the job done.
...As a side not Hawain Natural Champion Chris Faildo thinks that this is a MUST for preserving the utmost LBM. when dieting naturally.

I take a gram before I goto bed and when I get up. Not so much because I know what it does for me but because I like the tast of the orange chew tabs so much! Yum Yum!

Yeah as a child I would eat 3-5 of those a day from my dads med. cabinet.

I never was able to go very high on vitamin C with out stomach acid. G's got acid reflux but I still would throw down 3-5 grams a day. Now I take Ester-C which is pretty much non acidic and easily throw down 6 grams a day. I also take NAC at times and Vitamin C is a must. Good for muscle recouperation-2 grams goes down the hatch with the post work out shake. I'll post my flushing cycle on here for those to see.

N-Acetyle-Cysteine? what exactlt does this do?
I have heard many things about it...never used it straight out, has been in some things I have took tho'.
So you too, think that Vit. Cis good to take pre- post workout.

I do 2 grams a day, at 500 mgs. per dose,4 doses...obviously.
Vit. C has been called "Muscle Cement" ,and is great for recuperating from hard workouts, as well as a myriad of other benefits.

Thats cool Tim,!!! I was thinking of 2 grams upon rising 2 grams thirty min. before training and 2 grams immdiately after training.
what do you think guys(Tim, "G" BFX etc.)

You are about 4 times my size ;D and it`s water soluble anyway, so you`ll just excrete whatever the body doesn`t use!

He actually wrote some diet tips in the original scripture, but Jesus already had abs and thought it wasn't prudent...lol!!!!

Very few people realize that all anti-oxidants can become pro-oxidants when they are taken in high enough doses... meaning they can act as free radicals if the dose is high enough. Those that understand radical/redox chemistry understand this very well... that's why there are very few medical professionals who recommend high dose anti-ox. -Layne

Layne, I agree that under some circumstances this much Vit. C might be a bad thing....But if you are hard training and presenting a need for increase free radical scavengers then this should not pose a problem.
Also, I have been taking the Vit. C on schedule as I have posted and I have noticed a really weird thing... I am not as sore as before, after workouts...how can this be if I am causing more damage than good?
...Perhaps I was deficient, no matter I am just glad I found something to bring me that much more further into building LBM.
I beleive that when we are training hard or training at all for that matter, we present a unique situation in the body that is hard to duplicate with ordinary people of a controlled sedentary lifestyle, which is how most studies are done...Furthermore I beleive that just because it is shown to do No good with people in studies that its ok and plain good sense to take Vit. C.

Those that understand radical/redox chemistry understand this very well... that's why there are very few medical professionals who recommend high dose anti-ox. -Layne This is something I rarely see get brought up on the message boards and its a great point. Absorbic acid (Vit-C) is a very well-researched water soluable vitamin, yet most people don't know about it's pro-oxidant properties. The main reason you should avoid taking high doses (or at least rethink doing such) is Vit-C's ability to increase dietary iron absorption. To someone like a BB who is eating high amounts of red meat for example, this could lead to health problems as iron's pro-oxidant properties are linked to cardiovascular disorder, particularly in men. Not only that, but as str8 pointed out, Vit-C in itself can become pro-oxidative when in excess. IMO, most people only need to take in about 250mg 1-2X daily in addition to what your diet already provides. Also, do not take Vit-C along with iron or iron containing meals.
